It is hard being a good investor. You don't want to pick the older entrepreneurs. Their mental model were shaped from an obselete era. You don't want to pick the very young guys because they still have so much to learn. If you bet on them, you are betting on their ability to outlearn others at their age (this is what YC does) You can’t fund the over-funded because the founders already felt success before they found PMF You have to find the rare in between. > Delusional enough to believe they can do it > Scarred enough to know the cost of failing > Articulate enough to rally people to a common cause > Sharp enough to filter high-integrity partners from mercenary ones > Hungry enough to still want to do it No wonder so many VCs are struggling.
