Yes, we are doing this currently with our collaborators in the ASPREE study that randomized pts to aspirin vs placebo. We are measuring Lp(a) and @OxPL_apoB and should have data next year. @PaulLacaze @hsbhatia
Maria Urquizu@murquizupadilla

@Lpa_Doc Do you know if anyone is doing a study on patients with elevated Lp(a) randomized to aspirin or no aspirin and evaluating CV mortality or MACE, as well as bleeding?

COVID Update: I’ve interviewed well over 100 experts now. With omicron, the graphs & opinions are many but the truths are muddled. There are plenty of contradictions including 8 important ones. In that muddy world, 2022 will be shaped by differing circumstances & 3 attitudes. 1/

@Jules46398072 @BahamaBen9 @saxena_puru @InvestandS Teenagers and young adults are susceptible to Long Covid and I have treated many young adults for this condition. Mortality is not the only endpoint. Variants with increased viral prevalence is a continual danger. Decreasing virus is a good thing, but lockdowns don’t work.

I just watched my buddy tear his pec muscle while going too heavy on bench press. Investing is similar to weightlifting… take it slow, don’t try to be a hero, know your limits. Apparently he was in a rush so skipped stretching and warmup sets. This will be a painful lesson.

How's this for a testing cascade/comedy of errors? 67-year old asymptomatic man does an hour on the elliptical/day gets a CAC score because his wife got one. Score: 56. He gets a stress echo. Normal stress imaging but 1 mm ST depression. He gets a cath-moderate disease of LCX

@VeganHeartDoc @MKIttlesonMD Sure, according to guidelines, there is no indication. According to snippet, patient requested CAC. She should be aware that there is a risk of false negative. CTA’s can be now obtained with mammogram levels of radiation exposure and lower dye load, something to think about. 🤔

53F with no prior cardiac history. BP 110/70, no meds. Cholesterol 305, HDL 89, LDL 192, triglycerides 119. No family history CAD, smoking, or diabetes. Requests coronary calcium scan as she does not want to start statin therapy: CAC zero. Do you recommend statin therapy?

@BahamaBen9 Does this include health insurance? Early retirement is an interesting concept, but with the American Health Care system, an unexpected illness could drain funds immensely.

New game "would you rather" Would you rather retire at 45 with 2M or retire at 55 with 6M? No part time work allowed & you can't go back to work. Give your pick 👇. Feel free to explain.

@eemoin I, too, enjoy doing this weird fist pump thing randomly throughout the hospital, and it is always well received

@eemoin Did they place it with palpating and landmarks? Didn’t see that episode...Prior to standard of care ultrasound, we did this consistently.

I also pointed out that by reaching 19 million confirmed cases, the real number is 4-5X greater, meaning over 80 million. So we’ve hit Dr Rand Paul’s magic number of 22% herd immunity...and guess what? It’s not happening. Big surprise.

I'm not sure some of you understand... When people who spent years working 80-100 hr weeks, missed large sections of their lives b/c of their jobs, & deal with life/death on daily basis say that COVID is hardest thing they've ever dealt with... that should mean something to you
