COPE: Coalition of Progressive Electors
Councillor @SeanOrr proposed this recently at Council, but Ken Sim's billionaire-backed party voted it down. After we evict ABC this October, we're going to get to work taking practical measures like this to tackle the crisis of affordability in Vancouver.
RTN@RTNToronto

#BREAKING: Toronto city council has approved a plan to launch 4 city-run grocery stores aimed at providing more affordable food, prioritizing lower-income areas.

Senakw is not a Musqueam project. It is a Squamish project. For someone who prides himself on being a teacher, McMurtry is not very good at doing his homework. #VanPoli #BCPoli
Jim McMurtry@JimMcMurtry01

The wealthy 1500-member Musqueam tribe, which claims all of Vancouver, is building 11 towers (some 56 stories) on an 11.7-acre waterfront site. This density breaks all the rules, but when you’re a court-supported racial oligarchy, you can do anything.

@pwaldkirch I thought that everyone was going to play nice and select one progressive candidate to make sure Ken doesn’t get elected again. Why are these signs up? Is @OneCityVan scrapping the agreement

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre just found a way to alienate even more potential female voters: he went on Joe Rogan. The sweeping two and a half hour conversation covered everything from kettle bells to seed oils. I know, because I watched the whole thing. Now you don’t have to:

101: HOW TO IDENTIFY A POVERTY PORN GRIFTER 1. They dehumanize people dealing with mental health, homelessness and addiction issues by calling them “zombies” or “crackies.” 2. They always misidentify the cause of the drug crisis as liberal/NDP policy decisions - with bonus points for naming a politician. They never mention the ACTUAL cause: fentanyl in the illicit drug supply (true throughout Canada & the U.S., under both conservative and liberal governments). 3. They film and photograph people in crisis as if they’re viewing animals in the zoo. 4. They fundraise off their exploitative content. Like instead of helping the vulnerable people they’re using for clicks and engagement, they ask viewers to donate to THEM with their “buy me a coffee” link. Need an example? @KatKanada_TM and her video from yesterday 👉 prize-winning grifting. Cruel, self-absorbed and completely gross. 🤢

People are struggling. I run one of Vancouver’s oldest food programs and see the lineups growing. Food access is a real issue and motions like this reflect ideas many of us in community have been advocating for. I'll keep supporting solutions like this that come from community.
COPE: Coalition of Progressive Electors@COPEVancouver

Councillor @SeanOrr has food security on the agenda this week at City Hall. The motion proposes common sense measures: - Identify City-owned land in Food Priority Zones - Protect culturally significant, affordable retail - Pilot a public option for affordable groceries

Cllr @seanorr is raising money (yes, I donated) to take @KenSimCity to court for spreading lies. Who is paying for Sim's defense? Lying about colleagues is NOT city biz, so he should absolutely not use city funds. gofund.me/6522f45a4 #vanpoli
