@LibertyRealist @SenDuckworth Read the article. Conventional and FHA mortgages have more options to help folks who fall behind on mortgage payments. VA mortgage holders don’t get this protection. VA mortgage holders are more vulnerable this way, hence the foreclosures.

Some quick facts. VA home loans are beneficial to vets on the front-end at purchase, but they still have this pesky little requirement of repayment. If you, as a vet, don’t pay for your home, you lose it, just like everyone else. Cutting back on the VA home loan program does not cause vets to “lose their homes”. Now check my bio, then ask me, a vet and a real-estate development attorney, how I know. The NPR headline and your post is lies.

@LongSquat @SenDuckworth Did YOU read the article? The Biden administration implemented a fix after they made this error to solve the problem, meaning vets wouldn’t need to foreclose and could secure 2.5% rates, keeping costs super low. As soon as Trump took office he stopped this.
