@AeroMilky@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow Months ago they said they couldn't find the policy and provided a link where I gave them the info they wanted. Nothing since then
Just got home from the studio. Wow, mammoth interest tonight. I hope you found @itvMLshow useful / interesting. It was quite a buzz to premier a new topic #MartinLewis
Thanks to the brilliant @JNETTEKWAKYE for holding it together. And to Sheldon from the FCA for being the not po-faced voice of officialdom. And of course all of the brilliant team.
@MartinSLewis Let's face it, all those that have valid claims want to know 2 things. (1) how much? (2) when do I get?
Basically the sooner the better so I can put some petrol in the damn car
Just filming a full video explainer on Car Finance news will be on here live (need to get subtitles etc on) in about 45min. Pls share with anyone who needs the help.
After over 2 years it appears that work is almost complete on the re-imagined Lost River Ride at Flamingo Land 💦 It’ll be great to hopefully see this ride back in operation soon, with new theming and effects!

How would the govt intervene to cut energy bills if needed? Its worth looking at the two previous domestic energy models we saw in recent years.
1. Liz Truss (as PM) reduce energy costs for all. The Energy Price Guarantee reduced bills by limiting the unit rates charged for gas and electricity, with the government saying this would keep (the then definition of a) typical household bill to about £2,500/yr.
This was a very expensive route for the state, as it meant all bills were reduced, and by definition the biggest users got the biggest subsidies. Though it did mean everyone got helped.
2. Rishi Sunak (as Chancellor) flat help for all and targeted support. Before that happened there had already been support in place. It comprised a menu of help for different people across slightly different times. Roughly...
- £400 grant for domestic electricity users paid over 6mths
- £150 council tax rebate for those on Council Tax Band A to D (seen as a proxy for lower incomes)
- £650 for those on certain means-tested benefits
- £300 top-up for state pensioners
- £150 payment for those on certain non-means-tested disability benefits.
This was still costly, but not as much, as it was targeted, and the amounts were flat so lower users got the same help as higher.
----------
My suspicion is the current govt is more likely to look at the second version as a model for what it does (though it doesn't look like the payments spread would be as wide or as big)
📢Following comprehensive safety checks and a full site assessment by Glasgow City Council, @NetworkRailSCOT will be able to partially reopen Glasgow Central (platforms 7-15) from Wednesday, 18 March.
We'll run as many services as possible, but with a reduced number of platforms available, and limited entry and exit points for customers, this will not allow for the return of trains on all routes.
The following services will run from Wednesday, 18 March:
🔵Ayr and Glasgow Central – a half hourly service, calling at all stations between Paisley Gilmour Street – Kilwinning (Johnstone / Milliken Park / Howwood / Lochwinnoch / Glengarnock / Dalry).
🔵Gourock and Glasgow Central – an hourly service, calling at all stations.
🔵Wemyss Bay and Glasgow Central – an hourly service, calling at all stations.
🔵Kilmarnock and Glasgow Central – a half hourly service, calling at all stations (integrated with normal Carlisle/South Ayrshire services).
🔵East Kilbride and Glasgow Central – a half hourly service.
🔵Lanark and Glasgow Central – an hourly service.
ScotRail staff will be on hand at Hope Street to guide and support customers to and from platforms. This will include entry and exit for customers via an entrance on Hope Street, known as the carriage driveway, which is used during special events and is normally for vehicular access.
The following entrances to the station will remain closed:
⛔Hope Street (adjacent to Waterloo Street).
⛔Gordon Street.
⛔Union Street.
A full timetable of services at the low level platforms, which serve routes from Cumbernauld, Whifflet, Larkhall, and Motherwell to Dalmuir, Balloch, and Milngavie, resumed on Wednesday, 11 March, and they will continue to operate.
📱Customers are being advised to check their journey before travelling, and can do so via the ScotRail website, app, and through its social media channels.

@ScotRail Hello, I was just wondering why, given the no doubt additional pressures on the low level routes via Glasgow Central, you are continuing to run 3 carriage trains even at peak times? Surely there must be a surplus of carriages and staff right now?
Good morning from Alton Towers! The monorail will not be operational for the start of the season, however there is a replacement bus service from the car parks to the main entrance.

@ScotRail Thanks for your message. I didn't have to stand but other passengers did and some were unable to board. It's uncomfortable conditions for everyone and in challenging times. But there are trains available to use, as happened during CG2014 where 380s were used.
✅ Glasgow Central Low Level is open with services calling there. For the latest service information please check the ScotRail app or website.
⚠️ Glasgow Central High Level station will not reopen this week.
ℹ️ We'll share further updates as soon as we have more information.
@Clarky1972Steve@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow It's been complicated by one rate maturing and I swapped to another rate. So interest was added - does that count? It would be so much simpler if there was a dashboard showing the figure
With less than a month until the end of the tax year - meaning the cash ISA deadline is upon us, tonight's @itvMLshow is a use it or lose it ISA show. Cash ISAs v Shares ISAs, how they work, what the best rates are, how to maximise savings interest & more. Do watch or set Videoplus
Glasgow Central Station pub too by the looks of it, that whole exit is now gone. WH Smith, the wee coffee shop, probably where Burger King used to be too. The platform the Virgin trains come in…. Wow 😮 😢
🚨 This is what’s left of Glasgow central station 🏴
Drone footage this morning shows the complete and utter destruction that has been caused due to a fire in a vape shop.
This is incredibly sad, such a beautiful building, completely destroyed.
Many asking me should I ditch my current cheap fix that ends (say in 5 months) for one of the last cheap fixes still available.
I'm afraid unlike getting off the Price Cap, to grab a cheaper fix now, I don't have an answer here.
If the middle east conflict continues for a long time with consistently high energy prices that last until after your fix ends, then yes you'd likely want to ditch it now if you can get a longer cheaper fix.
If it is a short lived thing that ends in a week or two then you'd want to stick on your cheap fix for now and then fix again cheaply when it ends.
I have no idea which will be the case. So it all depends on how risk averse you are. Sorry I can't provide more guidance.
@ScotRail can you please sort out the low level once and for all. it is a dark dank smelly place that has constantly wet slippy floors and buckets all over the place to catch drips. it’s a really unpleasant gateway to the city centre
ℹ️ Following on from the broken water pipe at Glasgow Central low level yesterday, staff have worked together through the night to allow for the station to open today.
Lifts will be out of use this morning. Please speak with station staff if assistance is required. Thank you.
@scottish_water@NetworkRailSCOT
@MartinSLewis@ofgem Best explanation yet. Well done.
So the true cost of fuel is going up but a change in govt policy sees the cost to the user decrease
@ScotRail What about kids for a quid which can't be bought from a TVM or online. If the ticket office is open, must it be bought first? Or are you going to make a child pay a tenner?
ScotRail is set to introduce a new minimum fare in a bid to educate and reduce the number of passengers who choose to travel without first buying a ticket.
Fare evasion is estimated to cost Scotland’s Railway more than £11million each year and those who purposely board without a valid ticket will be charged a £10 minimum fare (exemptions apply).
