All right. The legion of Stephen King fans in my video comments have convinced me to try Widow’s Bay on @AppleTV. Have heard nothing but good things. Plus, Matthew Rhys is awesome. Loved him in The Americans. #WidowsBay #NowWatching

English

@JohnDCook There's also the fact that coding is often a small percentage of the overall cycle time, but management are oblivious to that.
English

@Zepp1978 I liked Licence to Kill, but it's one of the least financially successful Bond films. Goldfinger has the best villain quote, "I expect you to die, Mr Bond"
English

1) From Russia With Love
2) The Spy Who Loved Me
3) Goldfinger
4) License to Kill
5) Thunderball

@mooreslawisdead coincidence that FSR 4.1 for RDNA 3 in July is now official and Steam Machine is imminent?
English

@Zepp1978 Watching the most recent trailer was jarring when I heard the "dad" dialog. Word of mouth will need to be good to put this on my watch list.
English

@simonbrown I am also perplexed at the 'rediscovery' of specifications as a driver.
English

Spec-driven development ... the 1990's called and they want their processes back.
As a junior developer in the late 1990's, before writing code, I was asked to:
- document my understanding of the feature I'd been asked to build
- document the code/DB schemas I was planning to add/modify/remove
- document the tests I was planning to run afterwards
This would be iterated upon a few times, and finally I was permitted to write code.
This post on Reddit amuses me... 😄

@Zepp1978 @J0hnADouglas Showing my age, but I spent many an hour playing War in Middle Earth, a combo RPG/wargame: myabandonware.com/game/j-r-r-tol…
English

@J0hnADouglas Oh man I had fun with it! Big time fan fiction but leaps and bounds better than Rings of Power.
English

Lord of the Rings: The Third Age is such a hilarious game. A bad game, but I love it because of how bad it is.
It’s basically fan fiction. You play SECOND fellowship following in the footsteps of the first Fellowship. You play Not-Boromir, Not-Aragorn, Gender flipped Legolas, Not-Gimli, Not-Eowyn, and Not-Eomer.
Periodically, you actually fight side by side with the original fellowship in big key scenes like Helms Deep and, get this, the Balrog fight. Yeah remember when that second fellowship came out of nowhere and helped Gandalf fight the Balrog?
The game copy-Pastes the FFX battle system. Straight up just a palette swap. So the battle system is at least fun and the movie music, sound effects, and environments give it a decent feel.
The game ends with you literally on top of Sauron’s tower fighting the big flaming eye. It’s so stupid it’s hilarious.

@TotherAlistair @FlySWISS And don't get me started on the automats for checking in or dropping luggage. A UX so bad they need staff standing nearby to help.
English

@FlySWISS Imagine being a major international airline and your programmers can't even get a pull-down list of airports working. Not ZRH not Zurich.
did you outsource your programming a less expensive country?

I feel like this would solve a lotta problems. It might create some new ones, but still. Worth the try.

No, your employees don’t want to go to an escape room Just go to a bar and open a tab
English

@LeonSandoTXMN @Zepp1978 No one is unfireable. The person making the decision to cut people never sees the damage this causes and no reasonable logic is applied. You just need to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

After consecutive outings, one for 11 years and another for 5 years, ending with layoffs...I'm starting to think this is right. Head on a swivel.
Nithya Shri@Nithya_Shrii
I don't care how loyal you are NEVER stay at a job for more than 2 years.

Good pick. Batman & Robin is always my go to.

Name a movie where the soundtrack is better than the film...

@Zepp1978 I did see an interview with Andy Weir that he has an idea for a sequel. Interestingly, the sequel topic came up when he was asked how the two other astronauts died and he said that's a secret he won't reveal as it's tied to a possible sequel.
English

See, this is the problem. Why not just faithfully adapt more great books?

Project Hail Mary is doing so well at the global box office that there’s talk of turning it into a franchise with a sequel. bit.ly/4uWmHb4
English

@Zepp1978 Went to the cinema for the first time in 10 years to enjoy Project Hail Mary. The trailer for Disclosure Day almost made me ill with the amount of audio vibration.
English

For me it's They Live. Aliens is the superior movie, no doubt. But They Live just had so much to say. And the best fight scene ever.

Which is your favourite?
English

@Gigabeef The stories are too disconnected from early progression, except for the map unlocks. There's no point doing them early and they have ridiculous high level requirements like intel 3
