@Poplak It's clever (from the US perspective). When this is over, if the price is competitive, the scheme will remain in place, and the money will continue to flow to the US gov rather than private insurers and re-insurers.

Leaving aside the pointless death and murder, the biggest story of this war is the looming collapse of the reinsurance industry, and the fact that it now falls to America to insure maritime trade for a world they’ve broken.
