@TheArsenal_ @andydunnmirror Yeah, Arsenal really hard done by on squad building, only allowed to spend over a billion since Arteta came in to win an FA Cup 6 years ago.

@andydunnmirror It’s really hard to feel any sympathy for city given the 115 Andy. It overshadows everything, but least it’s let them build a squad to deal with such a schedule, which is the same as Arsenal’s.

Out shopping earlier and the assistant suggested I try the jeans in a larger size. I was like “I’m here to buy a phone, mate.”

@OliverKay @Charlespurs @SebSB Similar with players getting shoved into advertising hoardings. Some of those are pretty solid chunky LED screens with a risk of serious injury. Slight pull of hair = instant red. Shove someone into a large solid object at speed = maybe the ref says something.

Totally. I understand that argument about it "only happening" because Romero was blocking him. I also understand what Dermot Gallagher meant on Sky when he said it had to be judged on the offence rather than the outcome. There are so many examples of that. BUT ... because of the situation, it wasn't "just a push". It put two players at risk, as you said. I remember a similar one in an England-Belgium game at Wembley (Gary Cahill and Dries Mertens). It's so dangerous

It’s strange that referees have created these red lines around player protection - high feet, studs showing - but when confronted with something this dangerous had no idea what to do.

Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey should have been sent off against Tottenham, the Premier League's KMI Panel has said. Brobbey pushed Cristian Romero into keeper Antonin Kinsky but escaped a second yellow. Romero suffered a season-ending knee injury. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

@DaleJohnsonBBC Ah well, only a really obvious mistake that should never have happened. At least it won't have any impact on anything. Glad that we're wasting so much time and effort on VAR and these laughable panel reviews.

@thomasforth How many of those are student accommodation? I find it remarkable how many huge student blocks have gone up in town, especially the top end near the arena. Huge demand obviously.

Left work early to take some pictures of the kind of plots outside of the city centre but in the city core that the latest Centre for Cities report on densification says we need to build in Leeds. And I have great news! We've already built it! It's just not in the data yet.

Championship clubs have rejected to chance to introduce a version of VAR for next season. Football Video Support (FVS), a variation of VAR which needs fewer resources and gives each coach two reviews per game, could have been brought in from August. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

@DaleJohnsonBBC An absolutely atrocious decision. What is the point of VAR?

Much will depend on what Anthony Taylor told the VAR he saw. If the referee described it as we saw and chose a yellow, there's not much the VAR can do. But that's a red for me. Another case where the outcome is probably different had the opponent "played up" to it. #MCIARS

Brighton should have been awarded a penalty in their 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal, the KMI Panel has said. Gabriel Martinelli held back Mats Wieffer. The KMI Panel also ruled that Chelsea should have got an on-field penalty against Arsenal. bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

Funnily enough, this is what Gallagher had to say on Johnson fouling Justin: "Why would it be a second yellow card? He’s not stopping a promising attack, he hasn’t pulled his shirt back. People mis-time tackles, if it’s half a second earlier he gets the ball."🤔
Kyle Newbould@kylenewbould

Ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes Thomas Bramall was right to send Gabriel Gudmundsson off. Also found Jaydee Canvot's celebration 'hilarious'👇 #LUFC yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football…

My views are probably closest to, 1/ MPs don't need more staff. 2/ MPs don't need paying more. 3/ Ideally we'd have fewer MPs and much less power at Westminster but we've never moved in that direction and making things miserable is a bit of a brake on yet further centralisation.

Obviously I've blocked the anon prick, after I think a calm response. But it's an interesting monomania. I've said nothing in the whole thread that shows any "dislike of the south". I have wanted representation for where I live. But this is often considered hatred of the South.

@JamesWillMarsh @GjMcGowan @thomasforth At enormous cost v a relatively small driver payroll. The payoff comes a very, very long time in the future. You would get more return from building new driverless lines. Glasgow is a poor comparison, far less complex.

I don't believe that "the unions" are the main barrier to a driverless tube. France quite famously has powerful unions,... and lost of driverless metros. Copenhagen's metro and soon suburban trains are driverless despite,... unions. I just don't buy the unions are to blame line.

to be fair, analysis from an ex-manager who once substituted a goalkeeper after 21 minutes and then called him "the worst professional I've ever seen" is actually quite useful x.com/footballitalia…

Former Italian striker Paolo Di Canio says Igor Tudor ‘destroyed’ Antonín Kinský and could ‘pay for that in his career at the highest levels,’ especially because Tottenham’s previous defeats were ‘not Vicario’s fault.’
