@geerlingguy I’m still enjoying games from the era where the CPU wrote bytes directly into the frame buffer

@Wassupwithtwits @conspiracylives @OnDisasters Give them the Vampire first, evolve to the Sea Vixen, and finally the Venom. Then remind that the Vampire was designed in 1941, entered service in '46.
English

@conspiracylives @OnDisasters Oh my dude. Allow me to introduce you to the Sea Vixen. It will blow your "wuh?"
English

"You just have to look at it to see it's doing Mach 1!"
A USAF SAC bomber pilot was quoted as saying this when seeing the prototype Handley Page Victor at the 1953 Farnborough air display in 1953.
Can´t blame the Gentleman - it still looks futuristic to this day: check those engine intakes and that tail

@marcrileydj Sad to hear. How big was the bit of paper for The Fall?
English

@happygeek The advantage is your memory starts going, so you forget you are old. Plus all the good movies you can watch again without spoiling it for yourself.

@ClintFiore @Starlink The first hit is free, then the dealer hikes up the price once you're hooked.
English

All my small plane pilot friends are big mad at @starlink today. Their plans just went up 5X in price overnight, and the data included went from 100GB to 20GB.
I know it's a small group of people, but this is causing many to cancel this service as it's now cost-prohibitive especially with the lower bandwidth service.
Starlink was a complete game-changer for being connected from a small plane, and I think it would be cool if they left it where it was so normal folks in piston aircraft could enjoy it, and reserve the higher-price tiers for turbine aircraft speeds, 300+mph.
It's got to be the tiniest revenue difference for SpaceX either way, but it's a world of difference for safety and connectivity to the American general aviation fleet of small planes.

@elonmusk You realise the "English" are named after Angles - Germanic/Danish invaders of the British Isles - islands which were populated by Britons, who are still around in the western parts of the isles such as the Welsh, and Cornish.

@tnperron @TracketPacer Relay the info via interpretive dance? Tells them what they need and saves a trip to the gym - and its all on company time.
English

I have to constantly remind myself that a huge portion of our population / coworkers struggle deeply with reading comprehension AND are unaware of it. They vaguely skim emails, texts, documentation, anything written, and only engage with info that’s spoken to them. Not sure what the solution is…
English

People are pointing out the absence of Lunar Gateway from NASA's new Artemis infographic. The last I saw the first element was expected to launch in December.
But if it's cancelled maybe there's still a future for the hardware. The Power and propulsion element started as the Asteroid redirect vehicle with the most powerful ion propulsion system on any spacecraft.
That in turn was supposed to be a demonstration of technologies for space tugs for Mars missions.
But Jared has made it clear that nuclear reactors and propulsion in space is something NASA should be developing, so If gateway is shutdown I will not be surprised if this element ends up becoming a building block of a Nuclear electric propulsion demonstrator.

@TheChiefNerd You usually need to provide ID and Social Security to be put on a payroll...

@Michaelgrosber2 @DJSnM NG were involved in the development of Altair as part of Constellation. But it was never finalised before Constellation got canned.
English

@DJSnM I would legit trust Northrop-Grumman to design a new lander. If they can deliver a new stealth bomber on time and under budget, they can deliver a new LM.
English

@paulbennett2018 @rob_linnett @georgiebingham @BBCSport @BBCiPlayer Same with trashing the BBC1 schedule to put Tennis on, moving the match from BBC2 - just stick to the same channel. They've enough digital channels to out sfuff on without swapping it around.
English

HUGEST CONGRATS TO THE @BBCSport @BBCiPlayer WHO COVERED 40km of the 50km CROSS COUNTRY THIS MORNING AND THEN JUST DECIDED THEY COULDN’T BE BOTHERED TO SHOW THE FINISH.
WTF
English

@DalesTranslator Its not Stena Connecta - its new with its spinny wind columns to help save fuel.
English

@rogerefc @merseyrail Surely common sense says that you allow a number of people up the ramp no matter their mobility level purely to spread the load across the ramp and stairs and keep the numbers moving onto the platform and trains.
English

Hope that jobsworth fella on "security" duties at Sandhills station last night is proud of himself. The way he spoke to our friend and his disgusting attitude. 86 years old and told he can't use the easy access ramp to the platform! Absolutely disgraceful @merseyrail
English

@J__Bachman @IanRunkle If Canada doesn't want the Stanley Cup any more, then can send it to Stanley's home at Knowsley Hall, near Liverpool, England ;-)
English

@IanRunkle But, more importantly, is it true that China is canceling Canadian hockey and the Stanley Cup?
English

@timfarron Money doesn't make you happy, but it does make misery more comfortable.
As Douglas Adams said - on the whole, its not the small green pieces of paper which are unhappy.
English

@paynenotes1 @CottrellStephen Are you following the teachings of Christ, or the writings of Paul?
English

@CottrellStephen A situation which is both shameful and shameless.
Is it too much to ask that the Church of England would please stick to what scripture says, rather than what 20th and 21st century secular society advocates?
