@MalinakMT @mercoglianos I heard a story recently about Admiral Fieldhouse. He apparently kept a map in his office from an Arctic perspective, and when politicians came and said Russia was a long way away he pointed to the map to demonstrate how little they actually knew. I really hope it's true.

@mercoglianos A different perspective can literally change how we perceive a conflict. In this case, this map ensures that we don’t forget the Arctic, nor overestimate distances the further north we go because of the distortion of projecting a globe onto flat maps.

I love maps like this. I saw the first one in Clark Reynolds' Command of the Seas.

This looks like about the best possible scenario for a Trump win, in which there are no easy ways for Democrats to nurture resentment that the election was stolen from them by anyone except the American voter. That hurts, but it's better for the country.

I've never been much more than a social drinker, so I haven't thought much about sobriety as something I should strive for. But the older I get, the less interested I am in alcohol. I'm seriously considering giving it up altogether.
