@romanhelmetguy Both socialism and libertarianism comes from the idea that people deep down are good. Yet, are the two best wings at pointing out people's greed or hypocrisy. So they know people are bad but chose not to believe it or think a small fix will stop people from chasing destruction

Libertarianism is popular because it's based on internally consistent logic that a child can understand. "I'm not touching you, you can't touch me." The problem is that people can still touch you. "But they shouldn't." But they will.

Term limits seem like a good idea until you realize a generational talent like Ron DeSantis is rare, while donor class slop Republicans are common.

@BuckeyePolitic1 They only know how to challenge power, never wield it or take agency of their own lives. Also, the algorithm rewards hyperbole so making extreme or outlandish statements generates income.

@YIMBYLAND Society has always been how do you deal with the 10% who think truly only of themselves and do not care about anything else. We've tried several things but until you remove them from the equation we cant have nice things.

There's been a huge, obvious leap by agentic AI in the past six weeks. Now you should consider whether last year's AI projects are still worth it or fits into: 1) "stuff I should do quickly before it becomes obsolete" 2) "stuff not worth doing anymore" 3) "just do it with agents"

@AuronMacintyre They just want to be smug, never holding responsibility for anything just wanting to feel "above it" knowing he never convince an electorate to actually try so he's never wrong.

This is a heightened danger to the AI also really coming fully online by about 2028. Will it still be producing slop by that time? Maybe, but it will be certainly capable of doing is to monitor all peoples simultaneously and also push your buttons to do what someone else wants. The left can never have that power ever so all of these "accelerationists" dont understand you wont be given a choice after 2028.

@CEO_RPOEnjoyers @CFBKings Virginia only has 2 losses total and even if it counted aganist them the conference does it by win percentage so a 7-2 is better than all the 6-2. Uva would still be in.

6-2 SMU beat 6-2 Miami. 6-2 Miami beat 6-2 Pitt. 6-2 Pitt beat 6-2 Georgia Tech. 6-2 Georgia Tech beat 6-2 Duke. 6-2 Duke beat no one. Duke being the 6-2 team to go to the ACC title is a massive joke. Should the ACC intercede and send someone who actually deserves it?

Its two things I think: 1. People generally would think that if "robots" arrived it would take the jobs we dont want first, not humanities and the arts. Its also scary that art may be quantifiable regardless of whether its "good" or not yet. 2. I think people can see where this is headed in that most people can be replaced and its also being funded by venture capitalists and that is a bad warning sign for who controls a "godlike power". No one has given any kind of good answer for what comes after 20% of society is no longer employable due to no fault of their own simply they aren't needed anymore. Thats the malaise that is setting in and until there is definite proof that no one owns this technology people will always be against it because it means a total transformation of how humans are. They might not think of it that way but they know something is deeply wrong.

The most interesting thing ive encountered in the wild was showing both gemini 2.5 and gpt5 the same picture of a bird and asked to identify it. Both picked different birds and then had them argue points with each other. I transcribed their arguments and told them explicitly they were arguring with another ai. Gpt5 never backed down and gemini eventually agreed with gpt. Im still not sure if either one was right

Advanced AI models shift their “beliefs” as they encounter new information & have interactions with people. Active persuasion works but effects come from overall context. Aside from alignment issues, shows why “SEO for agents” is not simple, as AI behavior can vary with context.

@Yuchenj_UW Our early experiments with Grok 4.20 show the ability to generalize from Python to other languages. Software is just logic at scale.

@AP4Liberty The libertarian party exists to be outside the mainstream. That's its core. Anytime a majority opinion forms, they will question it as they are allergic to power, not for powers sake but because they dont want to take responsibility and only offer hypotheticals and platitudes.

To continue, yes Henry only created a new branch of protestantism but it would be contained to northern German lands as he was the defender of the faith an ardent catholic and the Dutch would have been crushed. France would be partitioned by England, HRE and Spain. The French question rather than the Polish question would dominate Europe but with three distinct branches of the Hapsburg now ruling most of Europe, they would restart a crusade to the ottomans and with a combined Anglo Spanish fleet and a German army, the ottomans would be thrown out of Constantinople and the Hapsburg would declare a new Holier Even More Roman and An Actual Empire. Of which one family would control most of the world's economy and lands spreading a revilitized Catholicism throughout the world using some of the lessons in the protestant uprisings to create a unified Holy Church. With subtle rivalry between family members and cash infusion from the new world, each member of the house of Hapsburg has to outdo one another and so spending on grand public projects and research goes crazy leading to a baroque steampunk style spurred on by early industrial revolution and there is Holy Zeppelins dotted across the sky.

@nonregemesse If Henrry the 8th had a son with Catherine protestantism would be a small regional oddity and there would have been a worldwide catholic order dominated by the Anglo Hapsburg alliance. There would be no USA or world wars, just Anglo-Spanish-Germans ruling the galaxy

@NotAPrinny @ChristianHeiens The biggest insult you can tell any human is that they dont toil. We take pride in our suffering but rather than trying to make things better for someone after us we think if you dont go through what I did, you dont matter. It breeds resentment but life is toil for everyone

@stonecoldkitten @ChristianHeiens I agree with this, with one addition: the Boomers (specifically the portion the OP is talking about) *think* they had it super hard and that nobody ever had it harder. Like, sure, you went hungry as a kid, but you were able to get a job and a house and have kids.

The replies to this post illustrate why so many Zoomers and young Millennials despise Boomers. I offered a nuanced take that no generation is monolithic and that there were a minority of Boomers who stood up against the majority consensus of their own generation only to be mogged in the comments by Boomers who didn’t even bother to read this post and instead chose to make this entirely about themselves as an excuse to get personally offended. I couldn’t have asked for a better representation of the point I was trying to make.
Christian Heiens 🏛@ChristianHeiens

Lately it’s popular to dunk on the Boomers, and for good reason. They have arguably made one enormous societal misstep after another during every stage of their lives. The entire worldview they bought into as a generation was built upon a lie. It was meta-stable, not actually stable. The whole thing only appeared to work for a very short amount of time (which coincided with the decades during which they ran this country). Now, as they enter the twilight of their lives, the cultural and political project they attempted to build is imploding, and their legacy will be a cautionary tale for future generations. And yet, I also can’t help but remember that there were Boomers who vehemently rejected their own generation’s delusions every single step of the way. Generations are not monolithic, and there were always men amongst the Boomers who fought against everything that has transpired over the last 60+ years. And to those men who spent their lives fighting against the very disaster that their generation is now castigated for unleashing on Western Civilization, your rearguard action was not in vain. We will avenge you.

@ravens4dummies Its what I call the footballization of baseball. They see things day to day, game to game because in football that matters. When you draft in football you expect that player immediately. They are really Ravens fans which is fine but dont understand how baseball works

Kyle Bradish was a High A pitcher when the Orioles acquired him. Arms are valuable and the Orioles have struggled to draft them. Now they have more arms to either develop or trade for a high end starter, the one actual objective failure of Elias’ tenure here, having a crappy rotation entering this year. People bitch when they don’t draft arms, then bitch when they trade for them. I hate that I’m an orioles fan, they’re not a good organization throughout my lifetime. They’ve done nothing but disappoint me every year but one in my adult life (2014) but you people are insane
Make Orioles Great Again #FireElias@mvpfloorservice

@ravens4dummies @MikeEliasStan You’re a joke. A Single A player. That will probably never make it to the league. Just stop sucking on that Mike Elias.
