Here we have a solution searching for a non-existent problem…to facilitate theft from overwhelmingly reasonably behaving people under the guise of a concern for our children. Our school zones, thankfully, are already incredibly safe spaces for our kids. Quick data search indicates ZERO fatalities of children pedestrians in school zones in New Jersey going back 10 years! Rousing endorsement of our current practices. Zero justification for this bill.

Yes. DOA!! School bus cameras are a solution in search of a problem. It is, thankfully, EXTREMELY rare for a child to get hit by a passing vehicle. More likely to be struck by lightening. Additionally, as Steve Carrellas says in the article, there’s already cameras on school buses and a very effective way for people to be ticketed, with points. No need to cow tow to the corrupt automated enforcement companies and permit the camels nose under the tent. With all due respect to my friend Senator Deignan, this wouldn’t improve safety, but would cost thousands of drivers caught in the dilemma zone - whose behavior posed no threat to any children - hundreds of millions of dollars.
