@levelsio Also not sure walking around clean malls is a good example unless malls are what you are into. We have great malls in the US but people drive everywhere and parks are full of homeless

I think increasingly it's just because UK and W-Europe is getting exponentially worse while exponentially increasing taxes Like if everything around you turns into a shithole, then you fly to Dubai or Asia and it's just refreshing to finally be able to walk around in a clean shopping mall with shiny floors where the staff is nice to you and the streets aren't littered with trash and unsafe with thugs trying to stab or rob you It's not even that Dubai or Asia is so great, it's that what's left of W-Europe isn't so great anymore for the amount in cost of living and taxes it costs to live there!

@levelsio You have so many followers so not sure if my answer will get thru but you are too hard on W Europe. I live in California and spend summers in W EU and it’s night and day when it comes to safety. Taxes are too high in Europe but they flatten the curve.

It truly boggles my mind that Americans will travel all over the world in search of an international beach vacation, when instead they could travel just off the coast of San Diego.

Most people dont understand AI and what inference means so fears are overblown. Not everyone is a trader and sees this a good time to get it. I could be wrong but this is what I did, I invested. I also understand AI decently well and my judgement is that fears are overblown. I dont see big tech scaling down their clusters anytime soon or reducing their CapEX.

I see a lot of people scrambling to buy $NVDA today. My question... why? Price has broken down through the lower bound of the consolidation range that started in October. And we'll be closing below the 200-day moving average for the first time since January 2023. What's the rush?

@levelsio Yet the Dutch and danish consistently rank the highest on happiness. Could be bias cause I’m considering moving there but there’s beauty to gray and indoor slow productivity

Depressive weather is great for indoor culture though And indoor culture makes you work hard and get rich So that's why Netherlands is rich You can barely ever go outside in the sun, apart from a few weeks per tear, cause there literally is no sun

Where in Portugal are you? We stayed in Lisbon and considered living there. No, we live in San Diego and considered moving to Portugal, but taxes were too high, and the environment wasn't very business-friendly. The Netherlands seems more business-friendly, especially with the Dutch-American treaty.

By aligning with free speech, Zuck has immediately become the enemy of the media again The European media is so obviously directed behind the scenes to have an angle against American tech, and wanting to censor everything It's like reading Pravda during the Soviet Union

One missing thing nobody discusses is that firing 40,000 factcheckers in favor of community notes can't be the whole story I think it probably also means they realized LLM and Vision AI models now are good enough to do the job of auto moderation This saves them 40,000 * $92K/year = $3.6B per year in salaries Or 6% more profit for Zuck, which is good

@YieldOnCostSTR @TXStrGuy I applaud to you for being super honest on this. I’ve done the same in low season but as you said, emotional wear tear is not worth it. Usually people that get a really good deal were the cause of most headaches as well. Could be anecdotal but was our experience

@texasrunnerDFW See how much variability is in this median sales price data (MoM) so it is not necessarily valuable metric of itself IMO

Think home prices haven’t fallen “very much” anywhere? The median sale price in hurricane battered Englewood, FL is down a whopping FORTY PERCENT YoY And inventory jumped 18% last month Absolute bloodbath.

I would take this interpretation of data with the grain of salt. This metric by Redfin is showing median sales price. It could be a signal, but it could also be a seasonality thing where smaller or cheaper home sold in Sep/October 2024. Zillow index showing only marginal drop from August to Oct 2024.
