@thorstenball unfortunately, if process command value too long is no way to see whole thing. Probably it's only one real flaw of btop.

Just figured out that btop allows you to click on a process and see its details. It already was the coolest application. Now it's untouchable.

@olafurpg In the command-line, Lazygit can be used for that. And Magit can do much more in both TUI and GUI modes, but it does require some Emacs knowledge.

Sublime Merge is the best git GUI on the market for the rare occasions when `git add -p` is too limited on the command-line. For some reason, I've never enjoyed using git from VS Code or IntelliJ.

@mitchellh did you tried to run some GPU hungry apps in VM while doing dev work? I mean something like having Blender/FreeCad opened in background with some 3d scene while working with Vim (w 4k or 6k resolution). Just curious how it could affect responsiveness of text input/rendering.

A week of working in my NixOS VM on the M1 Max results: on the laptop, just super fast on both the host and VM side at all times. When connected to my 6K display, I’m having rendering lag in the VM. It’s workable but noticeable. I reported the issue and helping to debug…

I got MBP with an M1 Max (max specs) and I compared my NixOS VM performance to my 2017 iMac Pro and its a bit ridiculous (the M1 Max smashes it). See some screenshots. Note: all from my VM. CPU: 7.6x faster Memory: 2.2x faster File IO: 8x faster (not fair, iMac is fusion drive).

@rtarasovs @ckipp01 don't know about 'Neovim' but from my Emacs experience that not always true. Sometimes VS Code can beat Emacs in terms of responsiveness because of some hard to debug MacOS port specific issues (especially if you have a lot of stuff in your config).

I'm happier with my editor setup than I have been in quite some time. I don't shut up about Nvim LSP and friends primarily because it's just been working so damn well for me.
