Canada voted for Islamic Republic of Iran. The theocracy that just murdered ~30,000 of its own people for demanding democracy, and that is executing young democracy activists every day. This is a complete perversion of the values that Canada claims to represent on the world stage. For shame.

"The project’s sponsors have estimated total construction costs at $60- to $90-billion ... That should set off alarm bells right there: when $30-billion shows up, not as the cost of the project, but just as the margin of error, you know you’re in trouble."

High Speed Rail Costs By Country (excl tunnels): 🇨🇳 $25m/km 🇸🇦 $30m/km 🇪🇸 $30m/km 🇫🇷 $35m/km 🇪🇺 $40m/km 🇰🇷 $40m/km 🇯🇵 $50m/km 🇨🇦 $160m/km At similar costs to every other country, this costs $25B. Not $90B.

🧵You think Canada can build a 1,000 km / $90 billion high-speed rail project in one of our most densely populated regions? Want to see just how complicated it is to build anything in this country, and what monumental government failure looks like? The Lac Mégantic tragedy was the deadliest railway accident in Canadian history. This terrible tragedy occurred almost 13 years ago, and cost the lives of 47 people. The recommendation that came out of the investigation was to build a 12.5 km rail bypass that to relocate the railway track away from downtown Lac-Mégantic. Sounds reasonable and easy enough. Wrong! Only 12.5 km of new rail, but construction still hasn't started. 1/

Ottawa wants to spend $90 Billion on high-speed rail between Toronto and Quebec City. That's $4000 out of the pocket of every Canadian taxpayer to fund something that 99% will never use. As usual, Western Canadians will be paying to subsidize Ontario and Quebec. Insanity.

Gary Carter’s last career at-bat came as a Montreal Expo—and it was unforgettable.

BREAKING: Mark Carney announces $4.4 billion to reduce development fees in Ontario for four years. Ontario will match the $4.4 billion for a total of $8.8 billion. Instead of removing the development charges indefinitely they are using our taxes to fund the development charges

Avi Lewis on CBC claims "We're talking about, for instance, with groceries developing a chain of 50 publicly owned and operated grocery stores across the country with six or seven regional distribution hubs that would be able to provide groceries to Canadians 30 to 45% cheaper than what they're paying right now." Then he claims "To just blast this idea out there on social media platforms and we got thousands of responses from conservatives who were interested in this idea of a public option for groceries." Margins at grocery stores are notoriously low in the 3–5% range. Looks like Avi's strategy is to out BS Mark Carney, Master BS'er @avilewis

Dr. Patrick Moore, one of Greenpeace's original founders, says the climate panic is built on fabrication, not science. "One of my missions," he says, "is to turn on its head the idea that carbon dioxide is a pollutant ... when in fact it's the most important nutrient for all life on Earth." Dr. Moore points out that there is no clear definitive scientific proof, not one empirical formula or study, that shows CO2 causes planetary harm. "The future will show this whole hysteria over climate change was a complete fabrication," he says. CO2 is not pollution. It's the backbone of all life.
