@DrCharlesL In North Tyneside I don’t have the problem - ring in the morning, generally straight through to someone, then an appointment that day - either myself or my daughter (two different practices)

I read so many stories from people on here unable to get appointments as they simply can't ring their GP at 8am and wait in a queue for 30 minutes. Is it really that common? Concerningly, it looks to be... What is your experience?

@mcdonnellk3 I’m rather surprised that the announcement was made during the period previously known as purdah, too…

The UK government's decision to cut the NHS AI Lab's budget from £250m to £139m sends a concerning signal about the future of AI in healthcare. This reduction could have profound implications for innovation and patient care.

@bindureddy This just proves that #hallucinations - unlike what @GaryMarcus laments - are a nothing burger. If every employee in a company had a 97% accuracy rate in their output we’d be fine. Because we learned to work productively with imperfect team members. We‘ll learn the same with #AI.

Finally, we have a hallucination leaderboard! 😍😍 Key Takeaways 📍 Not surprisingly, GPT-4 is the lowest. 📍 Open source LLama 2 70 is pretty competitive! 📍 Google's models are the lowest. Again, this is not surprising given that the #1 reason Bard is not usable is its high hallucination rate. Really cool that we are beginning to do these evaluations and capture them in leaderboards!

@KevinGMayfield It’s bizarre, isn’t it, that even the building blocks of observations seem to be so difficult as soon as they are exposed to some of the open health IT systems…

I get involved in may discussions around health interop but I am beginning to think we are missing the basics. We don’t have interop solutions around basic questions and answers (e.g. heart rate). Amusingly, my phone does and has answers to these questions (in real time)

@healthyopinion @JimBethell @jameskirkup “Perhaps” if there were twice the number of Junior Doctors in the system then they could work sensible hours, get breaks, get the time with each patient that is needed… But there aren’t the numbers - and it takes a long time to correct that.

@healthyopinion @JimBethell @jameskirkup Conflating the two is absolutely not helpful - in the whole workforce there is a continual push of more complex tasks downwards in the established hierarchy. The argument for that is always that it leaves opportunity for staff to take more responsibility from above at all levels.
