@stuctaylor @Joshua_Ariza I think you’re digging your heels in unnecessarily. It’s a product. We design it. Saying that software isn’t a product is dumb.

@tomjohndesign @Joshua_Ariza I would argue that “product” can be—and over the course of human industry, has been—broadly applied to far more physical manifestations than digital ones therefore it feels disconnected when “product designer” means someone designing in the digital space.

@stuctaylor @Joshua_Ariza Product: something (such as a service) that is marketed or sold as a commodity. Would you say you’re not using a product right now? That’s software is not one? Do Google, Microsoft, etc not make products? What’s the point of having this distinction?

@tomjohndesign @Joshua_Ariza “Product” has traditionally been used to describe a physical item that people interact with. It seems like a much more apt description for an industrial designer. I’ve always felt like “product” was co-opted by the UX/digital design crowd simply because the term was available.

@stuctaylor @Joshua_Ariza Genuinely curious, how is it confusing to be called a product designer? Seems the most accurate description I’ve found.

@NotJackKemp I always strive to pass the guac test. I don’t need a mansion or fancy cars, I just want to be able to add guacamole to my Chipotle bowl whenever I feel like it.

people will often ask me “hey how’s stuff going since you left the ticket, how’s business” and I just picked up the six-month supply of contacts instead of the three-month for the first time, so uh yeah, I’d say *pretty* good

I watched the debate. This clip omits the whole quote: “Our border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front and a lock on the door. We should have a pathway to citizenship and keep out people who do us harm.”

It is time for Christians to unite in calling for an end to policies that harm our neighbors, in opposing ICE as they terrorize families and detain children, in prosecuting everyone who perpetrates these atrocities, and in reclaiming the name of Jesus from those who have hijacked it to justify cruelty. History will remember where Christians stood in this moment. Our children will ask us what we did when fascism came to America wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.
