My wife and I just spoke with our families in Gaza. Most of them told us they’ll be sleeping tonight on mattresses and blankets completely soaked with rainwater. More than half of our relatives are children, some under the age of five. And yes, tonight they will sleep on wet mattresses and blankets, in a tent on the street. I know that sharing this won’t change anything for them, not tonight, and not even next year. How do I know? Because babies have burned in tents, been beheaded, and been buried beneath the rubble, and not a single person stepped in to save their lives. So how am I supposed to expect that anyone will save the life of a child who may die from the cold? Can a camera capture the cold the way it captures flames? Anyway, the only reason I’m writing this is because they told me these things, and I feel it is my duty to share them with you. It is a responsibility. A responsibility for them to speak as they suffer, a responsibility for me to carry their story, and a responsibility, ah, what a responsibility, for you to take action. Yes, it is your money that is killing us and funding our murderers and oppressors. It is your governments that are protecting our slaughterers.

Earlier this morning, ICE agents abducted British Muslim journalist and political commentator Sami Hamdi at San Francisco Airport, apparently in response to his vocal criticism of the Israeli government during his ongoing speaking tour. We can confirm that Mr. Hamdi has not been deported and remains in custody. Our attorneys and partners are working to address this injustice. Some lithium thoughts to share after having spent one week in China where I had the chance to talk with multiple lithium refiners and cathode producers. 1. Price expectations: Among refiners, which tent to be “small” compared to leading LFP producers, there is a strong conviction that today´s lithium prices are here to stay. With an unquestionable believe that Chinese will continue to be able to push boundaries and maintain costs of production low. Spot is the best expectation of future prices. However, when deepening conversation as from where the incremental supply will come, IMO there is a lack of understanding of the global supply picture. On the contrary with large LFP producers, meaning companies that consume100+ kMT/y LCE, all with incredible expansion plans, the topic of conversation shifts dramatically to “we need more supply/suppliers”. With a better understanding of the global lithium market, they concede that prices are at a bottom today and that they will eventually have to increase. 2. Lithium chemicals: The strong growth expectations for LFP has at the same time everybody working on lowering costs. The concept that is prevailing is instead of using lithium chemicals, Li2CO3, use intermediates chemicals skipping expensive carbonation stage. In a conventional process Na2CO3 is reacted with LiCl or Li2SO4 in order to produce Li2CO3. When LFP is produced, the CO3 volatizes and therefore the whole carbonation step is not needed. By using upstream chemicals Li2SO4 (from SC), LiCl (from brines) or Li2PO4, a direct much more efficient and lower cost route to incorporate Li into LFP CAM is obtained. This is will change the Li supply chian over time. It also confirms my conviction that brine producers, and as long as the product ends up in China, are destroying value by going to Li2CO3. They should focus on LiCl concentrate production as @galanlithium will be doing in Argentina. On a non lithium related subject, as usual I leave China overwhelmed and admired by the incredible EV industry it has developed. The number of brands/models, the design, the gadgets/accessories they incorporate, the driving experience…. Not to believe this as happened so quickly considering that not to long ago Chinese cars were looked down as low quality and ugly. Yet, also fair to acknowledge that Tesla and Apple, continue being up there a kind of status symbol, with flag ship stores packed with people.
