@Eva38523550 @ZelenskyyUa Come on now, you know that state/country/nation are pretty much synonyms, especially conversationally.
We don't freak out over the phrase "There is something rotten in the state of Denmark" either.

Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Summit. I want to thank Estonia for hosting. The NB8 format is very practical. There are three key priorities:
First, to make diplomacy more active. We discussed today how to do that.
Second, to provide Ukraine with air defense and strengthen our cooperation to make Europe stronger.
Third, important EU meetings are coming soon, and I thank every partner for supporting Ukraine. It is time to open all clusters. Everything is ready, and there is no reason to delay.
I am also grateful to our partners for their readiness to continue strengthening sanctions against Russia. This is important. Russia must end its war, and only pressure can help achieve that.

@EulerID @iLepikVonWiren @Democracy631 I think its because expropriation laws can be challenged and dragged out and they're not really built for getting rid of specific people. What they need is a targeted national security based mechanism, which i think is what they're making.
English

@iLepikVonWiren @Democracy631 Why is Sweden exploring this. There are already laws in Sweden (and Norway as well) that allow the government to expropriate any private property by any reasonable justification.
Do it now!
English

The Swedish government is exploring legal mechanisms to enable the State Treasury to forcibly take over private property owned by russian citizens located close to military facilities.
Stanislav Aleshchenko, who also holds a Cypriot passport, purchased a 600-square-meter house and plot of land on the shoreline of Muskö Island in the Stockholm archipelago in 2017, the newspaper Expressen reported.
The property sits on cliffs under which a secret underground naval base operated during the Cold War before being abandoned in 2004.
Swedish armed forces returned to the base in 2019.
Recently, Swedish media have reported that the russian Orthodox Church, which is closely tied to President Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin, has acquired property near Västerås Airport, an international airport outside Stockholm. The national security service, SÄPO, has warned of espionage activities in the area.

@miranowhere Completely agree. Once russia has been properly partitioned, maybe we can have some trade relations with the states of Muscovy.
English

@Excalibur890 @visegrad24 Sure would! Go ahead and try. We've been hosting FirePoints solid fuel factory for about a year now, where have you been? You gonna try and stop us?
Russians can't do shit.

Denmark offers to relocate Ukrainian defense factories to its territory
Denmark has proposed moving part of Ukraine’s military production to Danish soil in order to protect it from Russian attacks.
According to the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade, decisions have already been made for several Ukrainian enterprises.

@JoeC4281 @keith369me @Pirat_Nation Well i am not going to argue with that, other than to say that Denmark whilst being maybe the best, still isn't good enough. Also paying politicians and people in positions in power well is of course not a panacea either, but it is a lever that can be used.
English

@subnet001 @keith369me @Pirat_Nation Compared to Denmark, Canada has many politicians lacking in ethics.

Jeff Bezos says taxing people who make around $50,000 a year is “absurd” and thinks many lower-income Americans shouldn’t pay any federal income tax.
He cited examples like an Amazon employee earning $50,000 and a nurse earning $75,000, saying the money they send to Washington would do more good in their own pockets.
Bezos noted that the bottom half of taxpayers account for only a small portion of federal income tax revenue, arguing that cutting their tax bill to zero would have little impact on government finances but could greatly help working families.

English

@JoeC4281 @keith369me @Pirat_Nation As nice as it is dunking on politicians, paying them little unfortunately opens the door to them being tempted to corruptly making money on the side.
A high wage is to an extent necessary to keep them singularly loyal.
English

@RealSchmebulog @Pirat_Nation Because he has a track record of doing so. Amazon employees sure as hell aren't being paid a decent wage and they've set it that low for a reason. I don't mind billionaires, i am not an eat the rich guy, but to me this is very transparant and follows a track record.
English

@subnet001 @Pirat_Nation Why would jeff bezos, net worth of hundreds of billions of dollars, feel the need to make some advanced scheme to lower the salaries of the bottom percent? No matter what a billionaire does, they will continue to be hated by schizos like you that still use their services anyways.
English

@TheWr0ngJuan No, having a decent wage AFTER taxes would be life changing. Do you really think Amazon isn't going to suspend pay raises after this?
And sure, losing that tax is "trivial" when you look at percentages, but in dollar terms you are stil losing millions, probably billions.
English

amazon accounts for only 0.72% of the workforce in the US and people earning 50-75k only contribute ~5% of taxes, which could be so trivially absorbed across higher brackets they wouldn't even notice
not having to pay taxes would be fucking life changing for a family like mine
subnet001@subnet001
@Pirat_Nation I've said it before and will say it again, he is only peddling this point so he can pay people less! Either that or avoid giving them raises, same thing. It is to his benefit, whilst shrinking the tax base, thus worsening the pubilc services, the lower income classes rely on!
English

@brandonbaskin @Pirat_Nation Sure but he's got a bad track record and so i wager we are right to suspect. Besides, i see no problems with low income workers being taxed IF what they are left with is reasonable. The tax should not be considered as coming from them, but from their employers.
English

@subnet001 @Pirat_Nation can yall stop with the reactionary cynicism - just bc he's a capitalist doesn't necessarily make him wrong. he's actually right on this point
English

@Drew_2theMax @Pirat_Nation True, but i suspect he's still got enough shares and influence to have meaningful sway, and in any case this is Jeff Bezos, known forn putting workers through grueling shifts at amazon warehousing and inventing scream-boxes, not exaclty Karl Marx.
English

@subnet001 @Pirat_Nation He's not longer the CEO of Amazon by the way
English

@RinoTheBouncer I disagree with using that format, it looks like shit and it doesn't make your statement the least bit more interesting.
English

@MelTheRockQueen @in_vivoo @IntCyberDigest Yeah, they definitely aren't perfect, but who are, really? They're improving, i will give them that.
But yeah, the Japanese are not and never have been brainless.
English

@subnet001 @in_vivoo @IntCyberDigest Japan has tons of problems, including bootlicking companies, glazing copyright/"moral rights", minority discrimination, xenophobia, misogyny, horrible overworking culture, and censoring "obscene" things.
But I don't think they're all that stupid in other areas.
English

@Remedy8404 @Pirat_Nation Roads? Fire departments? Police? Food and drug safety? Air traffic control? Environmental regulation? Natural disaster monitoring? Weather services? GPS? Defense? Sewers? Public schools? I think the lower income earners benefit most from the public school system.
English

@L5742447586984 @Grokit1756911 @Pirat_Nation Jeff Bezos has almost no track record of being altruistic, quite the opposite. This is not about giving workers a break, it never is with this guy. Ask yourself, if it was, why isn't he personally paying taxes then? Why is he hiding his wealth off shore?
English

@Grokit1756911 @subnet001 @Pirat_Nation A rich person can say they’re donating all of their money to charity and people like this will still find a way to complain
English

@subnet001 @Pirat_Nation People like you are part of the problem.
English

@subnet001 @IntCyberDigest Yoti is a british company, not a japanese one
