NEW: Boston based ICE officers have arrested a Brazilian man wanted in Brazil for rape of a minor age 14 or under. The man was caught by Border Patrol crossing illegally into the U.S. in July 2021, near Otay Mesa, CA, and was released into the U.S. w/ ATD (alternatives to detention). The man ended up in Massachusetts, and in June 2022, he was arrested in Framingham for assault and battery on a family or household member and intimidation of witnesses, jurors and persons furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings, a felony. Then, in July 2022, he was charged with multiple counts of threats to commit a crime and violation of a restraining or abuse prevention order. He has been sought in Brazil for “rape of a vulnerable individual ”, since July 2023, and is facing a sentence of 20 years there if convicted. On March 4th, a federal judge ordered him deported, and ICE just arrested him in Framingham. ICE statement: ice.gov/news/releases/…
