San Francisco is trying something new to tackle the drug crisis with our first ever performance-based contract for public health or homelessness services. Our Rapid Enforcement, Support, Evaluation, and Triage Center (RESET Center) will allow our police officers to arrest those engaged in public drug use at a speed and volume we have never seen before. But with this new resource, we will also give those suffering from addiction a real chance to choose recovery. At the RESET Center, the provider will operate under a performance-based contract. This is the first time San Francisco has used this approach for public health or homelessness services. That means the provider will be paid based on results, not just process. We’ll measure outcomes like faster officer drop-off times and how many people are actually connected to treatment and care. San Franciscans deserve accountability, and people in crisis deserve real pathways toward recovery.

Been wrangling a lot of time how to deal with the onslaught of PRs, none of the solutions that are out there seem made for our scale. I spun up 50 codex in parallel, let them analyze the PR and generate a JSON report with various signals, comparing with vision, intent (much higher signal than any of the text), risk and various other signals. Then I can ingest all reports into one session and run AI queries/de-dupe/auto-close/merge as needed on it. Same for Issues. P rompt R equests really are just issues with additional metadata. Don't even need a vector db. Was thinking way too complex for a while. There's like 8 PRs for auto-update in the last 2 days alone (still need to ingest 3k PRs, only have 1k so far).

Wind costs $27–$53/MWh. Solar costs $38–$78/MWh. 99% of U.S. coal plants cost more to run than replacing them with brand-new solar or wind. That's your tax dollars buying the most expensive electricity on the market. By executive order. While the Peabody Energy CEO stood in the room. And the human cost of what you're "saving"? 460,000 American deaths linked to coal pollution in 20 years. Coal PM2.5 is 2.1x deadlier than other air pollution. (Henneman et al., Science, 2023) All to protect an industry that employs 44,000 people total. Clean energy employs 3.5 million.
