Just Launched: Nepal’s Trafficking in Persons Report! A major step toward advancing evidence-driven understanding of trafficking in persons, led by the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal, with support from the European Union and @UNODC.

Supported by EU, @UNODC provided technical support to Govt. of Nepal in the development of the report, through its research methodology, targeted data collection &  stakeholder dialogues through provincial consultations, national-level validation & comprehensive review.

Building systemic capacity to combat organ trafficking. In Nepal, a EU-supported @UNODC training enhanced capacities of criminal justice practitioners, medical professionals & civil society to investigate & prosecute trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal.

Today in Dhaka, @UNODC_ROSA Regional Representative, Mr. Kristian Hölge, called on the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs of Bangladesh, Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed, reaffirming UNODC’s commitment to support national efforts to strengthen justice, security & the rule of law. 🇺🇳🇧🇩

Kick-started the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) trg. with participants from 🇧🇩 🇳🇵 strengthening scientific investigation capacities. Also marked the handover of a CSI Kit to the NPL Police, with the generous support of @StateINL through @UNODC_ROSA #CSI #LawEnforcement

Mr. Kristian Hölge, newly appointed Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for South Asia @UNODC_ROSA based in New Delhi, presented his credentials to Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Bala Nanda Sharma at the Ministry today. After presenting his credentials, Mr. Hölge paid a courtesy call on Hon. Minister. During the occasion, Mr. Hölge apprised the Minister of the activities of UNODC in Nepal and the region. Welcoming Mr. Hölge in Nepal, Hon. Foreign Minister congratulated him for his appointment as the Regional Representative. The Minister further emphasised the importance of collaboration between Nepal and UNODC to address illicit trafficking including drugs and human trafficking. Hon. UN Maldives welcomed Mr. Kristian Hölge, UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia, during his visit (26–29 Jan 2026). He met UN Resident Coordinator Hao Zhang to discuss strengthening UNODC engagement, focusing on maritime security, drug trafficking and anti-corruption.

In Nepal, @UNODC trained law enforcement officials on advanced investigative techniques to counter trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants. The training aimed at building a specialized cadre to strengthen crime detection, investigation, coordination and prosecution.

Each standard kit enables 500+ rapid, on-site tests, helping law enforcement and laboratories improve accuracy, speed, evidence-based decision-making, and overall effectiveness in tackling drug trafficking and precursor diversion.

The handover was carried out in the presence of Ms. Marcy Brown, US @StateINL South Asia Regional Director, Mr. Kristian Hölge, @UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia & Ms. Fathmath Azza, Board Member, Maldives National Drug Agency.

Strengthening frontline drug detection in South Asia! With US @StateINL support, law enforcement & forensic officials from Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives & Sri Lanka are undergoing a hands-on training at @unodc_lab on safer handling & faster field detection of drugs & precursors.
