The Hungarian parliamentary elections are 4 days away. They will test whether a hugely unpopular and corrupt authoritarian can cling to power with the help of big lies, a false flag fake terror thing, and the support of Vladimir Putin, Benyamin Netanyahu, and JD Vance (who is on site). But at this point Orbán is not the story. The opposition is the story. The possibility of a very different Hungary is the story. It’s right around the corner.

This statement changes nothing. The President has threatened a genocide against the Iranian people, and is continuing to leverage that threat. He has launched a massive war of enormous risk and of catastrophic consequence without reason, rationale, nor Congressional authorization - which is as clear a violation of the Constitution as any. Each day this goes on, the risk and criminality of these actions escalate for our nation and the world. Moreover, this administration’s self enrichment, insider trading, and pure corruption off this chaos - from crypto currencies to predictive trading markets to bribe “settlements” - has placed the Trump administration’s pursuit of personal wealth squarely against the wellbeing of our nation and its people. All of these incidents, and plenty more, have clearly driven our country past the threshold for impeachment or invocation of the 25th amendment. We cannot risk the world nor the wellbeing of our nation any longer. None of these considerations should be partisan, but shared in good faith by Americans of all backgrounds who care for the safety and stability of the United States. Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.

Tomorrow we will hear Trump’s claims about what’s in the deal which will not match up with what is actually in the deal. Then he will continue to lie worse as we learn there really isn’t a firm deal. Then we will do it all over again like so many times before with so many things.

@chucktodd A black day for the relationship between Europe and the US. We cannot trust a US that supports the most corrupt man in the EU Orban. Europe will have to kick the US out of NATO. No one can trust corrupt Trump and his henchman Vance, who is best known for killing the Pope.

This is beyond bizarre. A sitting VP of the USA attacking our close allies in Europe (you know, those bureaucrats in Brussels!) in a stump speech for a self-described illiberal politician that has the support of Putin. The Republican Party I grew up with would cringe at any American politician doing this, let alone a Republican!

Meanwhile, a foreign dude - who also happens to be the Vice President of the United States - flies in days before the vote to tell Hungarians how they should vote. With promises that if Orban wins again, Hungary will get Trump’s support and everything will be just fine. Interference? Never heard of it.
