The criminal case was later dismissed, yet Walmart continued pressuring her to pay a civil settlement. Nurse fought back. In 2021, a Mobile County jury unanimously awarded her $2.1 million in damages, holding Walmart accountable for the wrongful accusation and aggressive pursuit. A clear message: corporations can be held responsible when they wrongly target customers.

This young lady ordered car seats for her too small children, the daughters seat showed up complete with delivery photo and signature however the little boys seat was marked “delayed”, the following night the FedEx tracking of the other car seat wasn’t marked delivered, no picture just a signature, the next morning she got up and walked all around the complex where she lives and couldn’t find the seat anywhere, so later that evening she was scrolling through Facebook marketplace and found the car seat on the FedEx drivers Facebook page along with multitudes of other new in the box items. Last week AG Paxton's office reduced the first degree felony charge to two class A misdmeanors and initially offered a plea deal with NO ADDITIONAL JAIL TIME (he'd served ONE DAY in jail at that point). I have a new curfew client. Another Virginia Beach resident was arrested under this curfew—this time Stephanie Vann, who actually lives in the Oceanfront zone. She stepped outside her apartment on 27th Street around 10pm, something her lease effectively requires because she can’t smoke on the property. She was standing with two other male individuals—only she was charged. This is where we are now: residents being taken into custody outside their own homes under a curfew the City was never authorized to impose. Now facing a year in jail.
