We are putting way too much onus on the individual to prevent burnout. It is not merely the individual's responsibility to tackle burnout - because it's not an individual problem. Leadership must be central to any conversation about #burnout.

Really weird, but I’m agreeing with people whose previous opinions and political views I’ve opposed in the past. Why? They’re calling out behaviours we all despise. People like @FmrRepMTG @RepThomasMassie I’m not American, but values based leadership is obvious when you see it.

A woodcarver completely baffled his online audience by actively trying to refund their money and begging them to stop paying him. During the global lockdowns in early 2020, a New Zealand man named Daytona Taputu began broadcasting himself doing traditional Māori wood carving on the streaming platform Twitch. Operating under the name Broxh, his goal was simply to share his culture and chat with people for free. However, as viewers grew to love his relaxing streams, they started sending him financial donations and paying for channel subscriptions. Unused to the platform's tipping culture, Taputu was genuinely distressed by the generosity. He stopped his carving to ask the very first paying viewer if he could give the money back. He repeatedly urged his audience to keep their funds to support their own families during the uncertain times of the pandemic, even going as far as disabling the donation button on his page entirely. Naturally, his completely humble reaction had the exact opposite effect. The internet was so charmed by his absolute refusal to accept cash that clips of his stream went massively viral. Millions of people eventually followed his channel, ultimately turning his casual hobby into a full-time career that now supports his family.

"Turn off the sound and watch the movie." To uncover the deeper meaning behind communication, I often encourage my clients to “turn off the sound” and observe the room. What are people’s faces, postures, and gestures telling you? In many cases, reading the face reveals more than hearing the words. In corporate meetings, much goes unsaid. People may nod politely while quietly disagreeing. They may smile while feeling frustrated. They may claim their only concern is for the organization—when their real priority is protecting their own unit. This doesn’t make them “bad” people; it just makes them human. We all balance personal and organizational interests. As leaders, the challenge is to see beyond the spoken words and understand what’s really happening beneath the surface. By training ourselves to notice expressions and body language, we can become far more effective in sensing hidden agendas and building trust. Life is good. Marshall

There is too much happening for mid-December. Where are the cancelled meetings? Why are we not circling back next year?

The most underrated act of kindness is letting people be. Let them mispronounce a word, talk too much about a show they love, or get excited about something you don't understand.✨️ Everyone's got something that lights them up. Let them shine, even if it's not your thing.✨️

When you get defensive about feedback, you fail twice. You fail to learn today, and you fail to encourage people to keep teaching you tomorrow. If you can't handle the truth, people stop telling you the truth. A key to growth is showing that you're coachable.

@PatrickGen9 On way is by having positive intent for the person they are leading in every encounter and bringing that energy to tough situations like delivering constructive feedback. Not confusing being kind with being ‘nice’ is another. What examples have you seen?

Being a good leader is similar to being a good human or parent. Improve your listening skills. Listen to understand, not reply. Know your values & model them before asking others to do the same Lead with love. That’ll look different in these situations, but the energy’s the same.
