To be clear, if Democrats actually went through with any of this, the United States would cease to exist in spirit. The question is whether it would also cease to exist in name. The only appropriate response to court packing and admitting DC and Puerto Rico as Blue States to inflate Democrats' Senate count would be explicit Red State secession from the Union. The Federal government would have no moral legitimacy whatsoever, and anything less than calling the Left's bluff on such an unbelievably brazen power grab would amount to the Right essentially resigning itself to gradual political annihilation by degrees, much like what happened to the Rhodesians in Zimbabwe or the Liberals in Venezuela. But I won't hold my breath waiting for such a thing to happen. I do not believe either side has the spirit to respond to such drastic legal measures by calling the other side's bluff. Whoever "legally" destroys the other first will probably win, because the other side doesn't have the will to actually risk a civil war.

He got probation for shooting up a car outside a school. Probation. The left’s views on guns are totally contradictory. On one hand, they demand strict gun control laws. On the other, their social justice crusade requires not enforcing them. A circle that can’t be squared.

What happened in Shreveport is heartbreaking. We can never allow ourselves to normalize mass shootings. The United States is the only country where they occur with such regularity. We are also the only country that has failed to enact common-sense gun safety laws to keep weapons out of the wrong hands. Enough is enough — Congress must act.
