I’m Canadian 🇨🇦, but I grew up in Southern Germany 🇩🇪 alongside thousands of other Canadian military families. Europe didn’t just host us it welcomed us as family from day one. We shared everything: food, conversation, laughter, and yes great beer 🍻. Winters in the Swiss Alps at Crans-Montana 🇨🇭, weekends in Stuttgart, summers along the French Riviera 🇫🇷, Christmas in Spain 🇪🇸. Europa Park. Europe helped shape who we are. To me and to many Canadians Europe isn’t “over there.” It’s family. Year after year my brothers and sisters forever 🇪🇺🇨🇦 @EUAmbCanada @EUinCanada @AnitaAnandMP

I know tensions between 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦 are high, but there’s nothing I, and many other Canadians I know, want more than for 🇺🇸🇨🇦 to put their beef aside and get back to building the strongest continent on the back of the strongest partnership this world has ever seen

Together with @NikolPashinyan, I have invited @MarkJCarney to participate as a guest in the next Summit of the European Political Community, in Yerevan.  It is the first time a non-European country takes part in the EPC.  Europe and Canada are more than just like-minded partners - together we are building a global alliance to defend peace, shared prosperity and multilateralism.

On 3–4 May, Canada joins the European Political Community summit in Armenia, with Prime Minister Mark Carney attending. This is not just protocol — it’s a signal. Democracies are choosing each other. Europe is not a closed circle but a project that expands through trust and shared values. Welcoming Canada means strengthening a wider alliance of democracies, able to act, protect and lead together in a fragmented world. This is how a geopolitical Europe truly takes shape.

Canada has been invited to a European Political Community, EPC, meeting. This shows that Canada is moving closer to Europe geopolitically, triggered by our shared values and trade interests, and the US fallout. This is the first time a non-European country has been invited.

Canada has been invited to a European Political Community (EPC) meeting, the first time a traditionally non-european country has been. Canada is aligning closer to Europe than ever before.

Now that we have a sovereign wealth fund, we need to do what Norway did. Buy up a majority stake in a Canadian oil company and control it. Its profits can go in to the fund. Repeat the same process with a natural gas company, pipeline company, and mining company.

Fool me once… Canada and Europe need to stop over-relying on the U.S. Keep cooperation where it’s dependable pull back where it isn’t. Real allies don’t leave each other exposed. Europeans and Canadians do not need alliances to defend each other. This is where Canada *could* be. Norway found oil in 1969 and turned it into a **$2 trillion** sovereign wealth fund. Every Norwegian citizen has **$340,000** saved by their government. Canada has **more oil than Norway**… yet **2.2 million Canadians** visited a food bank last month. It’s not just “corruption” or “ideology.” It’s a total failure of **capital conversion efficiency**. We generate the value. We leak it through foreign ownership, capital flight, and political fragmentation. We don’t retain it. We don’t compound it. Norway aligned ownership, built transparency, and reached broad consensus on long-term wealth preservation. Canada? We do the opposite. The real question isn’t “why don’t we have what Norway has?” It’s **why do we keep sabotaging ourselves** so we never will? The future shouldn’t be Canada choosing between American dependence and isolation. The future should be Canada and Europe joining arms democratic, sovereign, industrial, military, and economic partners strong enough to say yes when we agree with America, and no when we don’t.
