@SeagullsProg That was the scariest game I have ever been to. I was relieved that we lost. The Den was astonishing hostile that afternoon

@SeagullsProg Very sad about Mark Gall, natural goal scorer, career ended by injury, what might have been?

On this day 1992, Mark Gall scores his 3rd goal in 4 games and 12th overall in the campaign. It's no enough however, as #BHAFC are beaten 2-1 by #dcfc at The Goldstone, a result that means we stay 23rd in the Division two table. 8,159 are there. seagullsprogrammes.co.uk/199192

1/2 On this day 1978, the most exhilarated and at the same time the most scared, I have ever been at a football match. #BHAFC welcomed #THFC to The Goldstone in Division Two. So many away fans in amongst the 32,647 crowd and it kicked off in town before and after the game.

@BBCSussexSport I think the whole of the away end singing “Lincoln on a Tuesday night” preferably in Italian to RDZ would be a golden moment

@BBCSussexSport For those of us with long memories, after Spurs were promoted ahead of us in 1978 after a dodgy 0-0 draw at Saints on the final day, helping them go down would be amusing

@patmurphybbc Great memories, Pat. Such talent on both sides. As for the pitch, agreed, Wembley was far worse than Old Trafford. That was the era of Horse of the Year show. Regards.

I was at both games, Henry. Old Trafford was dirty in some areas of the field but that sublime chip from Charlie Cooke for Peter Osgood’s deft header equaliser is what lingers most in my memory.

“Recriminations forgotten, the players swap shirts,” so intoned the commentator at the end of what’s been called “the dirtiest game in English football history”. Chelsea v Leeds in the FA Cup final replay of 1970, the most watched club game in English TV history... 1/2

ARE YOU WITH ME? Hi. It’s 22:20 in the UK as I write this and 16:20 here in Oklahoma and I’m sitting outside of the gym after a bit of a pathetic session. And I’m having a tough day. Tomorrow will be fine, like everything I know it will pass. But right now I feel overwhelmed. And wanted to share in case you sometimes do too. I realise this little account likely shows mainly the positives of my life. Travel, relationship, new house. I know. I am so, so lucky. I always seem to have been so lucky in my life and I’m very grateful. But what I do professionally has its drawbacks. I’m not 25 anymore. And 3 trips to Europe in 2 months, with at least 4 more this year is a struggle physically and mentally. I want and need to help Mrs Bard with the house. I’m struggling with an injury which means I can’t train as much as I should be. I can’t face another 10 hours overnight to Heathrow in a 777 on Friday. Tbh, just typing this helps. So if you are having a bit of a wobble let’s at least celebrate that we’re having one at the same time, shall we? We’re in it together. 👍🏻 A great friend once compared intense emotions to a train coming into a station that will eventually pull away. It WILL pass. I know my wobble won’t last forever. And nor will yours. Whenever it occurs. Have a good sleep. Cheers, Jon

Well it sounds like this is on the verge of happening. My thoughts are this. RDZ is a superb, innovative head coach in many ways. He was excellent for us in season 1. Second season… let’s say I have a very different answer. And as great as he was, I think he joined us at the perfect time. The foundations were laid by Graham Potter’s coaching and Tony Bloom’s recruitment. We had assembled the best squad in our history. But, as a fan I’ll always be eternally grateful to him for that season. We played electric football. Now #Spurs. I think #THFC is a very difficult job. Where from the outside looking in, the players have no fight, attitude or desire. Whether RDZ can turn that around in 7 days remains to be seen. I also have posed the question on here before, but as great as he was, I think he was found out a bit in his second season here. Maybe I’m wrong on that. But PL head coaches and analysts are pretty canny, and I think a lot of them had his number. Time will tell.
Fabrizio Romano@FabrizioRomano

🚨 Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham, in regular contact since yesterday to try find an agreement and get the deal done. Five year contract ready with top salary, with RDZ and his camp in discussions with Spurs. It’s always been the priority; despite links with Dyche & more names.

A lot of people are angry that Israel has passed a law allowing judges to consider the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of murdering Israelis in terror attacks. These same people have nothing to say about a Palestinian government that literally pays Palestinians to commit terrorist attacks.

John Snow seems to be England’s great forgotten strike bowler. He played 49 Tests between 1965 and 1976, taking 202 wickets at an average of 26.66 and economy rate of 2.68. In his 4 series against Australia, Snow was the leading England wicket-taker 3 times, and at home in 1968, he was 2nd. EW Swanton wrote that he “had not seen an Englishman bowl either faster or better than Snow at Sydney since Tyson”. Perhaps his career and achievements deserve a bit more recognition?

Since I got everyone at Israeli Right Twitter mad at me for saying Israel has to negotiate with the Palestinians, yes I know Arafat was at fault for the failure of Oslo. Yes I know what Clinton said. And nonetheless, refusing to negotiate with the Palestinians is dumb and wrong.

Elizabethtown - sounds like a colonial settlement, save it for the first British town on Mars. Pankhurst - kind of works. Attleeton - rubbish Athelstan - Athelstanton or Newton Athelstan would be better. Seacole - as above, Newton Seacole works tho. (As does Newton Attlee.)
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 NEW: The proposed names the Government is considering calling its new towns - Elizabethtown (after the Queen) - Pankhurst (after suffragette Emmeline) - Attleeton (after ex-PM) - Athelstan (first King of England) - Seacole (after nurse Mary) [@thetimes]
