End of an era. I've now officially bowed out of Double Your Freelancing. It's now fully in the good hands of @swinesayer. It's bittersweet, because this was the business that taught me about online business. I started it in 2011. At first, it was just a WordPress blog. But it quickly evolved into a bunch of courses and resources for freelancers (shoutout to anyone who remembers E-Junkie... 🤢) We ran online events: workshops, the DYF Academy, and countless live webinars. And for a few years, we even hosted conferences twice a year. One in Europe, one in the US. (It's also how I met my wife, @lauraelizdunn - so I owe the company... a lot.) For a decade of my life, DYF was: - how I made money - how I learned how to sell online - how I was able to meet so many incredibly smart people - and how I realised the power of personalised marketing It feels weird exiting... even though, truthfully, Zach's been running the show for the last few years. What I can say, however, is that the brand is in very good hands under Zach's leadership. I couldn't continue running RightMessage + all the email marketing-y projects I dabble in and run DYF. And... it's been a very long time since I've properly been a freelance consultant. I'm rusty. I can't wait to see what the next chapter of DYF looks like. Definitely give @swinesayer a follow. Best of luck, Zach!

@mytogblog @AprilynneAlter I have personally been sleeping MUCH better since I stopped announcing when I'd finish things or promised any kind of "open date" for things until they are actually done / in the home stretch

@AprilynneAlter It's all good! One thing I've learned is that sometimes it's best to be flexible with our self-imposed deadlines so that we can be proud of what we release. It's not to be perfectionist, but also not to be rushed.

An update: I wanted to get my next video out by today, but it's just not going to happen For this video, I tried outsourcing some of the editing, and... let's just say it didn't work out After a few 19-hour editing days and ~10 cries, it looks like I won't be able to meet my deadline I learned a lot of lessons with this one - I'll share later But for now, I'm going to keep editing while I still can, and I'll get the video out sometime after VidSummit

@jessethanley @JesseSchoberg I use it only for testing my own stuff and funnel hacking others :) I have seen people do "name + doubleyourfreelancing" tho, which is reasonable enough

what's a valid reason someone would do username+{number} in their email? I can't imagine people sign up to services with +1, +2222, etc legitimately and seems like a great way to spam services.

@MeetKevon What I like doing for these (easier than 2s timer) is just shoot a video and hold somewhat still for poses, and can have the team scrub through later to find ones they want

@jessethanley So what I am saying is that if you are upset about this, you are at least not alone — whether or not you "should be" upset about it is debateable

a vendor just cold emailed lots of my competitors telling them I used them. I didn't agree to be a case study. should I be upset about this?

@jessethanley I have thought about this in Conversion Wizard after mentioning to one prospect some results I brought for XYZ past client (a competitor), which upset XYZ past client. So it's now in my onboarding SOP to ask clients if I can reference that I worked with them + reference the work

@jessethanley If you reached out to other course creators telling them DYF uses Bento without asking first, it would not bother me. But if this was, say, a marketing agency who could perform services for your competitors to make them compete more effectively with you, it is indeed a gray area

my @bento promise to you is that if you ever run into a stressful email issue, I’ll always have your back. in this instance, Pieter found himself listed on a very large blacklist during a launch for an important client. resolved it together in Discord fast ✌️
Pieter Beulque@pieterbeulque

If you ever need to send email, use @Bento. It's the most know-what-they're-doing software in the email space. If you ever need inspiration on how to be a good human, go to @jessethanley. If I ever run my own company I want to do it like him (I wouldn't do an ESP though, yikes)

just figured out a piece of the puzzle to blissful high margins for @bento. as a result, if I pull this off in the next month, I may *lower* costs for a portion of my customers. R&D year.

🔥 To celebrate [& appreciate] my upcoming EoFire interview, I'm buying a random person a copy of JLD's book, The Common Path to Uncommon Success (a.co/d/1P0k66U). Reply with excitement / what you like about John or @katelerickson and I'll randomly pick one of you & send
