Why should it be disqualifying that @AOC "used to support Israel"? So did I, to the point that during the interregnum when Netanyahu was out of power I actually gave advice to the govt on a couple of occasions. One can change one's mind based on new facts, which may lead to a revaluation of how one might have seen the whole picture before.

🚨BREAKING: 2018 AOC tweet resurfaces calling Gaza killings a “massacre” and demanding Democrats speak out as false claims spread that she used to support Israel.

The Jewish people are indigenous to Israel.

🇸🇾 REPORT | A New York Times investigation found that abductions of women and girls from Syria’s Alawite minority are far more widespread and brutal than authorities have acknowledged. ▫️While the government officially acknowledged only one "real" case, the Times verified the kidnappings of 13 Alawite women and girls and received reports of scores more. ▫️ Survivors reported being grabbed off the street in broad daylight, held in filthy conditions, beaten, and subjected to sexual violence. Five of the verified victims were raped, and two returned home pregnant. ▫️ Captors often explicitly targeted victims for being Alawite, at times citing extremist views that deem the minority "permissible to rob and rape". Other cases involved purely criminal extortion, with one family paying a $17,000 ransom for a relative who was never released. ▫️Families and rights groups say many cases remain uninvestigated, pointing to a pattern of denial and limited accountability despite mounting evidence.

The fact that Syria has not split into mutiple different statelets (as Israel wanted and desperately pushed for) is an extraordinary achievement for the government in Damascus and their key ally in Ankara.

The violations of the government forces & their Bedouin/tribal allies (the “honourable” ones) against Druze civilians was far greater than Druze violations. The truth is coming out. Seeping out. It is a stain on this government & Syria’s post-Assad story. x.com/hrw/status/201…

For 3 days, rival #Druze National Guard militiamen have engaged in on/off clashes in #Suwayda city due to disputes over control of properties seized from displaced Bedouin families now resident in camps in #Daraa. 4 days ago, they also clashed over control of fuel sales.

Dear @Charles_Lister Thank you for your concern abt free speech in Sweida. Last week UN Commission of Inquiry released its report on the sectarian slaughter of Druze civilians by Syrian govt forces in Sweida. 1,190 from the Druze community were killed. To date no comment from you

"There's no freedom of expression or of the press in #Suwayda. If you dissent from the view of Hijri’s militias, or agree with the #Damascus authorities, you're threatened with death at any moment." - #Druze journalist, speaking anonymously: syriadirect.org/red-lines-and-…

I would not read calls for violence against Israel in protests within Syria as evidence of Iranian influence. HTS itself occasionally played up militancy against Israel in its messaging prior to Assad’s fall. In any case, Palestinian cause retains deep resonance among Sunnis here
