Today is launch day for Steve Jobs in Exile. I spent almost four years digging into Steve's stretch in the wilderness -- 1985 to 1997, after Apple pushed him out and before it brought him back.
I expected the record to be complete. What more could there be on the most written-about entrepreneur alive? I was wrong. An archivist at Carnegie Mellon told me I was the first person in about fifteen years to open the NeXT archive. People had been holding letters, tapes, memos, recordings in their closets for decades, waiting to show someone. More than a hundred of them sat down with me.
They didn't tell me about the genius-or-tyrant caricature. This was a younger Steve, mostly off-camera, nearly bankrupt, learning the hard way. Out now, order link below.

I speak as an old retired soldier who has seen power rise and fall, who has witnessed the arrogance of men who thought they could cheat history. Let me remind you, and especially remind Mnangagwa in particular, of what becomes of dictators who loot their nations dry while their people starve.
Look at Field Marshal Al Hajj Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC – Lord of all the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular, President for Life. He declared himself all these titles, bathed in blood and self-glory, expelled Asians, murdered thousands, and emptied Uganda’s treasury. He thought he was untouchable. Where did he end? In exile in Saudi Arabia, a broken, obese shadow of himself, dying in isolation and poverty in 2003. All his grand titles turned to dust.
Then there was Jean-Bédel Bokassa, Emperor of Central Africa. He crowned himself in a lavish ceremony costing millions while his people ate leaves. He looted the state treasury, bought castles and villas in Paris and elsewhere with diamonds and gold stolen from his own country. When the French finally removed him, he fled into exile. He returned years later a pauper, died forgotten and penniless in 1996. His palaces and stolen wealth could not save him.
And who can forget Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, the Leopard of Zaïre, who ruled with an iron fist and absolute kleptomania? He stole billions – palaces, villas, Swiss bank accounts, private jets, even the national reserves. He called himself the Guide, the Father of the Nation. Yet when his time came, he fled to Morocco dying of cancer, abandoned by all, his vast fortune frozen or looted by others. He died in exile in 1997, isolated, his body barely given a decent resting place. All that looting for nothing.
Now look at us today. The same script is being followed. Castles and properties being bought in Dubai, Belarus and elsewhere while our mothers and fathers queue for mealie-meal, while our youth cross borders like refugees in their own region, while our currency collapses and hospitals have no medicine. The looting today is said to be sophisticated – through companies, proxies, and “Zvigananda” networks but it is the same old greed.
History is screaming a warning, yet the ears are deaf.Shameless. These men Amin, Bokassa, Mobutu all died poor in exile, stripped of dignity, remembered only as warnings. They learnt nothing from those before them, and it seems the current Mnangagwa's Administration has learnt nothing from them either. The people of Zimbabwe are watching. History does not forget. The day of reckoning always comes.
No amount of titles, no amount of stolen wealth, no number of luxury properties abroad will change the final chapter.I have spoken as a soldier who loves his country. Let those with ears hear.Retired
Lieutenant General Winston Sigauke Mapuranga Mnangagwa.

The president is negotiating against his own administration to shake down taxpayers for $10 billion.
The corruption meter is flashing red and sounding the alarm.

June 1, 1933: The "Fund of German Trade and Industry" is created, a huge slush fund administered by Martin Bormann in the Führer's name. The regime used the funds to compensate SA Stormtroopers who committed street violence, subsize the SS, and enrich Nazi party officials.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar
Q: Do you believe people who committed violence against Capitol police officer on January 6 should be eligible for compensation from this DOJ fund, and are you or your family members going to be seeking compensation from that fund? TRUMP: Yeah. It will all be dependent on a committee

This video is a painful reminder of the ongoing war in Sudan that has claimed over 200,000 lives, according to aid agencies. Beyond direct killings, millions are facing famine, disease outbreaks and healthcare collapse. The World Health Organization says Sudan has become one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters, with more than 11 million people displaced and over 33 million needing assistance.
This war is no longer just an internal power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. It has increasingly become a regional proxy war involving several foreign powers backing different sides for strategic, economic and geopolitical reasons.
The main foreign backer most frequently accused of supporting the RSF is the United Arab Emirates. Numerous major investigations, including credible reports by Reuters, Le Monde, Human Rights Watch and EU agencies, allege that the UAE has provided weapons, drones, logistics and financial support to the RSF, although Abu Dhabi denies this.
The UAE is accused of wanting influence over Sudan’s gold trade, Red Sea access and regional political dynamics.
Egypt is widely regarded as the SAF’s military ally. Cairo views Sudan as strategically vital because of Nile water security and fears instability or an RSF takeover near its southern border.
Egypt has reportedly supplied intelligence, training, ammunition and military equipment to the Sudanese army, though it officially denies direct military intervention.
Iran has also become a major supporter of the SAF after restoring ties with Sudan in late 2023. Iran has reportedly supplied drones, including Mohajer and Ababil drones, which helped the Sudanese army regain territory in Khartoum and elsewhere.
African leaders are talking about wars far away from the continent while ignoring one that has killed hundreds of thousands of Africans. They loot and take their money to the UAE, yet fail to use their political and economic leverage to help end this human tragedy.
Sudan is collapsing before our eyes, millions have been displaced, entire communities destroyed, and still the continent’s leadership response remains weak and fragmented. It is a shameful disaster, a moral failure and a tragic reflection of failed African leadership. What is the African Union for? What are the regional bodies for?

Trump sued his own government for $10 billion. Today he settled with the DOJ he runs and cut the judge out of the process.
The deal: a $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund his Attorney General controls, with no court oversight and no transparency. It’s the most corrupt scheme of his presidency.

🚨do you understand what just happened..
Trump sued his own IRS for $10 billion over leaked tax returns.. then settled with his own DOJ.. and the settlement created a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded fund to compensate his political allies
the president filed the lawsuit.. the president's DOJ settled it.. the president's allies collect the money.. and you're paying for it
the fund covers Jan 6th defendants.. Mar-a-Lago raid claims.. the Russia investigation.. anyone who says they were a victim of "lawfare" can file a claim and get a check
they named it the "Anti-Weaponization Fund".. and made the number $1.776 billion.. they even made the corruption patriotic
in 1974 Nixon resigned for using government agencies against political enemies.. in 2026 the government is cutting checks to political allies and calling it justice
