overall i think gamers are just obsessed with the term 'skill expression' when they dont actually mean that and just mean 'i wanna feel cool for doing some weird specific tech' skill expression is inherent in competitive games even on 'easy' characters/playstyles

Yes it's elitism but I don't think players have monitors on until gold (I have played in bronze/silver lobbies recently) Masters players are actually mid at the game I just think OW has a more casual playerbase than some other titles and the distribution while true is nuanced

@tabeebFPS @popsvoiceYT @demoore11c I think the part where we disagree is the amount where talent plays a role in results. You talk to most pro’s in various games nowadays and they’ll tell you that when they first picked up their game they were already getting better results than the average player

are all current pros natural talent or is there a dude who was legit like hardstuck and terrible but clawed his way up? that guy would probably be an insane coach if he existed

@tabeebFPS @KeysSSB @popsvoiceYT @demoore11c you are saying the same thing, and so was OP. you just assumed people like OP are accusing pros of "getting t500 in 4 hours" but the point is simply "theyre getting t500 in months of moderate playtime"

@tabeebFPS @popsvoiceYT @demoore11c The point is more though that a there are a lot of people out there that put more hours into the game than the pro’s, but don’t get to the same level because they don’t have the talent

@Matty_OW consider that your opinion on effort is about as biased as it can get

More I yap about balance on here, more I realize no one actually cares about proportional effort => reward. As long as the game is balanced in the same way rock paper scissors or a coin flip is balanced, it’s fine to these people.

@popsvoiceYT @demoore11c key point being through practice. im not denying the existence of talent, but people act like they loaded up the game and got t500 in 4 hours. i think this mindset belittles how much they practiced to get to their level

@tabeebFPS @demoore11c Some people are legitimately prodigies though, and send their skill to the moon through practice. Might have picked up overwatch at like 13 yes old and are gm by 15 top500 at 16 and are prospective pro talents. Some people are just built diff.
