It's going to be a big summer for NYC. @CrainsNewYork reports: "When the 2026 FIFA World Cup arrives this summer, New York City will host eight matches, including the final on July 19. The region’s host committee projects more than 1.2 million visitors. Layer in Sail4th 250 (the largest tall ship flotilla in modern history, expected to draw 6 million spectators) and a rescheduled Fleet Week, and you have six weeks of demand unlike anything this city has ever seen."

& A'rb'b pays for what it wants. @airbnb's PAC has funded 16 NYC council members in hopes of passing legislation to gut LL18 that requires registration & compliance w/ city & state laws. A'r doesn't like compliance. That's not part of their business model. Just ask @naterotman .

There are flyers going around LA asking you to "Save Our Services." What they don't say: Airbnb is funding the campaign. What Airbnb actually wants is to legalize thousands of new vacation rentals - homes & apartments that would be permanently pulled off the residential market.

True home-sharing can help residents make ends meet but, over 50% of LA listings are currently illegal commercial operations. These "ghost hotels" evade taxes and artificially inflate rent for every household in Los Angeles.

Mr. Rotman: You don't encourage visitors to go to the outer boroughs! There are over 3000 legal "Hosts" in NYC. 264 in District 36 alone! But instead of encouraging tourist to participate in legal home sharing in NYC, you bemoan the lack of opportunity in the outer boroughs. Why?
