@FearTheBrown I think the size differences really makes it hard to find the value in that comp.. obviously the similarities you noted are there, but they way in which they go about those impacts and how they even *can* translate don’t help for projection or even placement imo

Have a Reed Sheppard comp that I want feedback on. Strictly as pre draft prospects, not the pro, he reminds me of UCLA Lonzo Ball. Smaller size, has the ball less, better shooter - but exact same skillset on both ends.

@starrtraak The reason is the rotations.. there’s so much talent and versatility on both ends on this roster but Willie doesn’t either interested or able to recognize the skill sets that mesh and those that don’t. Some of that fruit hangs pretty low too

i'd want like 7 different players individually from this Pelicans roster when it blows up but i hate them together for whatever reason

@FearTheBrown Was just talking about this the other day. Dyson 2nd only to Jaden in terms of on-ball perimeter defense and blending disruption and discipline. So good staying between man and basket but keeps his hands engaged on every pass and shot attempt. Just a nightmare on that end

@LucasKaplan_ @bjpf_ I agree. It’s Ant, but also not a slight to him. Just think Fox advantage creation, Rese advantage recognition, and Shai being notably the best in the group leaves him odd man out

@bjpf_ Really tough tbh, been watching a lot of Kings ball and he created an advantage every time down. It's crazy, nobody can stay in front of him.

i think you can make a case for any of the non shai players here but i’ll say fox goes

@starrtraak Hopefully that’s more of a technical thing that he can work on and rep out until he gets the feel for it in functional situations cause if that’s just a pure feel/instinct thing then I don’t think he makes it unfortunately

@starrtraak This is the perfect way to describe him as a prospect. I hadn’t been able to articulate it but he’s a better athlete than so many other qbs but doesn’t seem to be able to use his athleticism in short areas, which is way more important than open field stuff.

Levis is a playmaker but can he get his feet accuracy & timing synced up to play situational football is still a question for me

@coachnatebdraft Completely fair eval.. only thing we may differ on is the level of shooting/scoring he may be capable of.. and maybe the value of the stability he’s likely to bring

@tackett_kyle Wish he were a little more of a creator and a better defender. There is just nothing to get excited about, but I do acknowledge the value of a 6’3 PG with good size who is as stable as they come.

Different players, I know, but… Why is there such a difference in the rankings between TyTy and Terquavion Smith, especially considering Smith is much younger, the same height, probably a better shooter/scorer from all 3 levels (when you put it all together)????

@coachnatebdraft I gotcha.. Smith is not widely known bc he was 94th in RSCI and is probably the 2nd best player on a 10-14 team vs Tyty being top 15 RSCI and on a good Kentucky team so there’s def some availability bias there.. but Tyty is still comfortably > for me. Why aren’t you sold on Tyty?

@tackett_kyle Agreed, but I’m also not sold on TyTy in the lottery. Hence the issue with the giant difference in where they are being mocked/ranked.

@coachnatebdraft Absolutely, I’m not trying to dissuade the 1st round agenda I just think there’s some fairly distinct and meaningful differences between him and Tyty which is what you originally questioned. Special skills w/ major flaws makes total sense in late 1st, just not always lotto

@tackett_kyle I wish he were bigger and played better POA defense. Would make a huge difference. But there aren’t many prospects in this class with his combination of range, shooting versatility, and ability to score from all 3 levels. It’s quite impressive for a guy who just turned 19.

@coachnatebdraft High-end (or potentially high-end) shooting/scoring is great but unless your like 6’6”+ you most likely need to bring a decent bit more, esp if your <~185lbs. There’s a lot of special shooters that don’t get a chance because of what they don’t do (Jimmer, Fletcher, Markus, etc.)

@coachnatebdraft Yeah, I’m not necessarily advocating for him. Just illustrating a point. I think Davis is really good at a few things but holistically isn’t a super serious prospect because of the things he can’t/doesn’t do.
