The astronauts were only supposed to be up there for 8 days and now have been there for 8 months. SpaceX could have sent up another Dragon and brought them home 6 months ago, but the Biden White House (not NASA) refused to allow it. President Trump asked to bring them back as soon as possible and we are doing so.

I was the Commander of the @ISS when Andy, @Astro_Andreas flew his first space mission. He is one of the most competent, trustworthy, and honest people I’ve ever met. This rhetoric is beyond the pale but, sadly, not surprising. He does not deserve this kind of disrespect.

Federal employee retirements are processed using paper, by hand, in an old limestone mine in Pennsylvania. 700+ mine workers operate 230 feet underground to process ~10,000 applications per month, which are stored in manila envelopes and cardboard boxes. The retirement process takes multiple months.

@DJSnM Would be nice if the plane to be seen and avoided could flash their landing lights so other traffic can confirm that they have that exact plane in sight and not another in the sequence. More workload yes, but it would have prevented this.

One thing I realized this morning about the collision was the speed of both aircraft was pretty close. People don't think of helicopters as fast, but this was doing a groundspeed of about 100kts, while airliner was about 125kts. The airliner was on approach, flaps deployed, headed into the wind, helicopter was moving with it.

Elon — genuine question: do you value character, honesty and accountability, whatsoever? Because you know that’s a complete mischaracterization of this complex situation. Generalizing often can be a headwind for positive discourse, but so many of your various actions in the last few weeks, months, and years stand at quite a contrast to these core values. I found the space community and am pursuing my line of work now, in large part, because of the excitement you brought to the world via your efforts in spaceflight in the 2010s and early 2020s. It’s supremely disappointing to see the path you’re charting and you so often sharing such blatant mis and disinformation… all for attempted personal and political benefit. You wield incredible power to do good in the world and have already done much. Connect, launch, transport sustainably: the world, to name a few. I hope you zoom out before too long—because you have so much potential to bring people together through your efforts but the things you say and do often and more recently, divide.
