This story was based on “six people familiar with the planning,” and I am sure none of them actually read the President’s speech before it was delivered. Politico did not even reach out to the White House for comment. Another example of why you should not blindly trust what you read from the legacy media. This is what they do - call up random sources who just make things up, and then they report it as fact.

@MikinaakA72106 @tavi_chocochip It is Artemis III that SpaceX plays a big role in. I do believe for Artemis II it was something with the SLS rockets causing the delay.

@tavi_chocochip Delays were caused by faulty landing gear that was contracted to SpaceX, NASA has opened up the contract for future missions, I believe. It is VERY likely he does not want people to notice and focus on that aspect because those of us following were noting the reasons for delays.

I find it weird that Elon didn't mention NASA's Artemis II mission at all, despite posting quite a lot on other topics.
He keeps saying space exploration is super-important to him. So does he really care about human missions to space, or is it only when it's a SpaceX program?

I would return to @Rivian if they fixed these things:
Super fluid software, fast and reliable (it’s getting better, but I think the UI needs a global rethink)
Killer audio system. They had something great in Gen 1 and they kinda just killed it with Gen2.
Speed up the app commands. Why does it take 4x longer than teslas app to do the same command?
App layout needs to give me more quick commands
Climate schedule needs to have a condition of location (ex. 4pm @ work
UWB unlocking is too sensitive. Parent’s R1S continually unlocks/locks as they move about the house. (Give a clear option to press the door handle to present the handles at location?)
Let’s get some FSD level autonomy (I know, it’s coming)
Steering weight adjustment, I wanna be able to dial in a more heavy steering it’s far to light as of now.
R1S needs it’s own platform for comfort suspension (far to porpoise-y)
Only a few suggestions, and some may already be implemented. But those are probably the most important on the ownership experience side.

Rivian posted a gross loss of $10,216 per vehicle delivered in 2025, and a net loss of $85,753 per vehicle. Can they cut $30,000 of cost out with the R2 platform? If they work hard they might have a shot at pulling it off but they will need to show a lot more discipline in their fixed costs as well. So far I'm not seeing any signs of discipline. Instead, they're investing like crazy. That works as long as they're able to raise more capital. RJ is going to need to be sleeping at the factory in Illinois and telling employees across the company to tighten their belts if they want to get through this without becoming a subsidiary of Volkswagen.

The worst part is when you pick one of the alternative routes, and it switches back after a minute or so without prompting you...
So you have the illusion of choice but not really any choice
Oh also I had to pay 2.70€ this month for tolls because sometimes the navigation ignores the setting for avoiding tolls 😒
