@alex_kim_2 Thanks @alex_kim_2 ... I meant what was the offence they were charged with. I have found out from social media what the offence was. How I wish the courts would become aware of some realities when they set cash bail and bond for suspects.

They were all arraigned yesterday before the Chuka Law Courts and each was slapped with a KSh 300,000 bail, a decision that is both excessive and deeply unreasonable. Prior to this, they had been held at Kathwana Police Station in Tharaka Nithi County.

I wonder how many stray bullets keep hitting people's heads during protests. When I was younger, stray bullets were things that met people's legs and other body parts. Why is human life no longer sacred?

Thank you, @edwinsifuna, for being a principled leader and refusing to bend the knee to demagogue and dictator Kasongo. I believe you will continue to defend the ODM party from hyenas and sellouts. With or without the party, you remain an important voice for the people of Kenya!

It’s easy to be loyal to a party. It’s harder to stay loyal to the people when your party drifts. During Occupy Parliament, @edwinsifuna chose the people and that deserves respect🫡. It was a fair trade, ODM kept the traitor among us and gave us a true defender of the people. We soldier on!

Mustafa Güngör’s unconditional release is a win for justice, but the fact that he was ever detained is a stain on our commitment to refugee protection. His arrest was never "right" it was a clear attempt at transnational repression triggered by foreign pressure over a years-old social media post. We must remain vigilant. #JusticeForMustafa #RefugeesRightsKE #DueProcessKE

And wakilis, we should not make that silly mistake that Kenyans make of ignoring a candidate’s past and or their track record. For instance, you should ask where your candidate was when Kenyans were being killed on the streets. Upholding the rule of law is our collective effort

🚨 URGENT ACTION: FEAR OF REFOULEMENT IN KENYA Amnesty International is deeply concerned that Mustafa Güngör who was arrested with his wife Zeliha, daughters Seniha Betül and Zeynep, and his in-laws Zümrüt and Salim is at serious risk of refoulement to Türkiye, where he could be subjected to arbitrary detention, torture, or ill-treatment. We have reliably learnt the Turkiye authorities sought his arrest through a Mutual Legal Assistance request to office of the Attorney General. Kenya has an obligation under international law not to return anyone to a country where they face persecution or harm. We call on the @DCI_Kenya and both authorities to:
✅ Respect the legal principle of non-refoulement
✅ Ensure due process and protection for family
✅ Allow continued access to legal representation and UNHCR and @Kenyajudiciary Our officers are currently at the DCI Upper Hill with family lawyers.
