As an Orthodox Christian, I reject Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA). It says the Father was so angry at us that He had to punish Jesus in our place to satisfy His wrath before He could forgive. I don’t believe that. That's not logical. The Trinity doesn’t work that way — the Father wasn’t pouring out rage on the Son. God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. The Cross is victory over sin, death, and the devil. Jesus came to heal our broken nature, defeat the enemy, and unite us to God. Real atonement is rescue and restoration, not a legal punishment transfer. The early Church didn’t teach PSA. They saw the Cross as triumph and healing, not courtroom payback. The Gospel is better: Christ is our Victory and Healer. Love conquers by destroying evil, not by redirecting wrath. ☦

The Nicene Creed was formulated to battle the Arian heresy. If the Bible is perspicuous as many “sola scripturists” claim, how did Arius misinterpret it on the fundamental doctrine of the divinity of Christ? Why’d so many people become Arians? Did the Bible alone fix the problem?
