@m966021 As a reformed protestant it gets tiresome. I get if you have genuine issues, but I hear a lot of "buttt there's no actual central system to figure out whoooo's right" or a strawman of a position Like, we have traditions/centralized bodies. And we have the Westminister documents

You cannot understand the climate crisis if you don’t understand colonialism. You cannot understand colonialism if you don’t understand capitalism. Everything is connected. There is a subtle fabric of oppression that links every form of suffering around the world.

Palestine is still facing a genocide, Iran is still facing an internet blackout, Lebanon is still getting bombed, people in sudan are still being killed, people in Congo are still being killed. Continue spreading awareness.

@_tedK @g300sEnjoyer @upholdreality Hitchens was a great orator but most of his main works were based on poor history and he was a defender of the Iraq war and torture camps. Him passing away before he could be Sam-Harris'ed honestly kinda saved his reputation Great speaker and never loses debates, very wrong

The Four Horsemen of New Atheism: Hitchens drank himself to death, Dennett actually died, Harris became a Mossad podcast, and Dawkins is getting edged by a chatbot Twenty years of telling us we were the stupid ones

@Lim38878197 @dmontetheno1 What he said was absolutely islamaphobic. He’s completely refused to accept that religion could’ve had *some* positive impact on society/his thinking… but cares about it all of a sudden if it’s brown people doing the thing and not whites

@takalotreadless @dmontetheno1 I don't understand why people seem to think the culturally Christian thing is such a slam dunk proof of hypocrisy? Also some of the absurd standards of what people say is transphobia

@daeneryslogy I would say I am continually deconstructing and reconstructing. Quite a religious guy and consider it a huge part of my life, but always doubting and asking questions

@2Philosophical_ A lot of Christians tend to just sweep these under the rug for culture war reasons too instead of actually engaging with them e.g. evolution, modern gender views, which makes it frustrating.

@Archetypical20 about Islam at all, and even more Christian scholarship that doesn’t care about the online sphere If you were drawing conclusions about an entire worldview based on its online profile then basically all of them are absolutely cooked

@Archetypical20 social media machine, not the position(or the majority of its adherents) itself There are certainly Christian scholars who specialize in Islamic/Christian debates and some of them get popular with a certain subsection online. And there are a ton of apologetics that dont care

an audience of people who already buy into what the poster is saying/pushing, so it just becomes a circle of self-validation Christians, Muslims, Atheists, etc, are all guilty of this. It’s not inherent to any religion or position, but a factor of what our modern climate rewards

I think this tweet, as a cultural object, sums up all the problems with apologetics content. Now, the Christian position = one edited up clip of one dude talking(meant to look a certain way for a certain narrative, and honestly isn’t even that bad) put out to be a self-own for
The Orthodox Muslim@muslimorthodoxy

Wow, I’m so happy that Christians like @InspiringPhilos & others are finally admitting there are 3 Gods. You guys are bringing people to the Lord, best Dawah online right now

On the one hand, I don't love The Redeemed Zoomer as a brand. I think his page presents a racist, chronically online weirdo who has been extremely damaging to theological discourse. But tbf, he attracts a lot of freaks. Like these people.
Vader groyper@Vadergroyper

@redeemed_zoomer “From leftist to Christian” You are still a leftist in almost every meaningful way. You theology is almost entirely based off of your “former” leftist ideology. Woman can’t be ordained cope and seethe, you know about as much theology as an atheist

@PtrSanders @jaredhmoore A true sign of intelligence is explaining complicated topics in ways that laymen can understand. It's a difficult task to translate centuries of theological and cultural discourse into an hour-long sunday sermon for a large crowd and I gotta respect that.

This means the young man is unteachable and a fool according to Proverbs. A godly man can learn from anyone who faithfully teaches the Bible, regardless his IQ. The apostles were mostly fishermen, but we learn from them. PhD pastors should learn from their Sunday school teachers.
Miles Smith IV@IVMiles

There's a moment when smart Evangelical/Reformed guys in college or grad school go to a Sunday service and it hits them they're smarter and more sophisticated than the guy in the pulpit. They start thinking about Rome. I get it. Srsly DM me. Happy to talk. No judgement.

@mugjudge @OpStCyprian I call them schrodinger's church fathers. Every denomination thinks that they agree with them. Like yes, I became more reformed after reading Clement of Rome and Gregory of Nyssa. Just as you'll become more catholic if you read(and interpret) xyz

@OpStCyprian It's always so bizarre reading modern Catholic apologetics and then reading the Fathers they supposedly follow. The approaches are not similar or compatible.
