One of the most incredible parts of using Tesla Self-Driving is its ability to navigate unfamiliar environments perfectly. It literally takes all your stress away.

FSD scared the crap out of me and my wife. We were headed out of town and my wife was taking zoom calls in the backseat and I was relaxing letting FSD do all of the work. We were following behind a cement truck and as we went through the intersection, the cement truck ran the light at the last minute, as soon as FSD was able to see the light it turned red and FSD slammed on the brakes. My wife’s laptop went sliding across the car, but we got stopped, and then FSD backed us up behind the line.

It is still true today that the majority of people outside of these vehicles think everything this woman thought. They think a Tesla is going to be a horrible road trip vehicle. Owners know that the opposite is true. They are the best road trip vehicles ever made.

20% of the fleet in Austin now has no safety monitor

Absolutely agree about following distance. Max speed I’ll be honest I don’t care about as much, they’ve been doing a pretty good job with the speed profiles. But when I am behind a small transport bus around Moss Landing on the 1 going 50 in a 55 in Sloth mode and I’m barely two car lengths behind and can’t control following distance without taking over manually…. That sucks

Two things I, as Supervisor, wish I had more input and control over with FSD: 1. Max Speed - still encounter situations where even Sloth is too fast 2. Following Distances - FSD often follows more closely than I would driving myself. This has resulted in hitting potholes or objects on road that could have been avoided. Regarding your situation and as you found, FSD following distances are sometimes too tight behind tall vehicles to see traffic lights in time to respond normally and without drama. Have experienced same.

Tesla self-driving just feels so GOOD. Kicking back and enjoying the music while my car navigates an hour of traffic is just heaven.

Found a great video over on TikTok about their experiences with @Tesla and FSD. So great to see the ah ha moment happen! It’s a shame that more people have never had a chance to experience this. Spread the word!
