@TewksHitting @_joeycunha The bat's acceleration at the point of impact does not directly contribute to the ball's exit velocity. The bat's velocity does. Greater bat acceleration is only important insofar as it allows you to achieve greater bat velocity over a given swing duration.

@_joeycunha If bat speed and direction are the same but acceleration is different, would the lower or higher accelerating bat create a higher exit velocity?

What is more important: Bat speed or bat acceleration? Would love for people smarter than me to chime in.

@Dusty_Grooms @DrNickCC @AnneBenjaminse @MeredithChaput @jokinmujika10 If we view this through the lens of predictive processing though most of this feedback could be seen as constraints on the initial projection I’m not sure how much free will plays a role here 😅 Per my understanding see it more as stopping @ first mvmt solution that satisfices

Really excited for this posting - come and join us in Vancouver! While the job details are all online, the unmentioned perks include early staff workouts to kick off the day, and some overly competitive ping pong or foosball matches when the day ends. fw.to/Qi1vaYk

Most of the Tommy John surgeries you're seeing in college and pro ball aren't just a function of one pitch going wrong. Rather, they're the culmination of years of wear and tear. Learn more in the latest podcast, a great interview with @drchrisahmad: ericcressey.com/csp-elite-base…

@alecbuttfield @Alex_Caravan @MaxDutto_ The basic question is: What patterns of coordination and control tend to lead to the best outcomes for individual athletes? Standard biomechanical approaches don't analyse coordination and control, and don't emphasise individual athletes.

@BaseballFreak_9 Thanks for sharing, Anthony. DM wasn't available, so I hope this is an okay medium for my question... Do you have any data on the relative timing between shoulder horizontal abduction, lead hip external rotation & pelvis rotation in high- vs. low-velocity pitchers?

overhead look at a projection of the long axis of the humerus(blue) combined with the pelvis rotational angle (red). Maybe a new way to look at "scap load" and separation.
