It is with great sadness that I’m having to write this. To be clear, this is about my experience with @hashtagzmedia AKA "Alpha Andy." Before I get into it, I want to be clear that I believe in the importance of forgiveness and the ability of humans to grow from mistakes that they’ve made. I met Andy in September 2021. He was an anonymous person I met on the internet through OnChainMonkey (OCM). Andy seemed to be a good guy and he was very willing to learn, which for me made it more than worth the effort to help him on his journey here. My experience with Andy for a majority of the last two years was trying to help Andy accomplish his goals. Of course, Andy also helped me in many ways. For a while, it was a great mutually beneficial relationship of mentor/mentee. I always made sure to hop on calls with Andy, listen to his ideas, and give him the best advice I could in how to proceed. Among the things I did to help Andy grow and demonstrate my belief in him, I made Andy the host of OCM After Dark, a Weekly Twitter Spaces for the OnChainMonkey community that I spearheaded as part of my previous role at OCM. Sadly, at some point, something changed with Andy, and I went from being a great friend to somebody he started treating as a great enemy. Since I left OCM last month, Andy has harassed me several times in direct messages and has even hosted hour-long Twitter Spaces dedicated to disparaging my reputation. I believe the posted image is from 12/31/23. Last week I traveled to Los Angeles to join the @irl_alpha fam for a livestream from their Venice Beach Studio. Andy knew I would be there and I believe he came there specifically to confront me in person. And he did so in a very intimidating way. After several hours of being in the same physical room, Andy waited until it was just he and I in the hallway outside the studio while everyone was inside. As I returned from using the restroom, Andy stood between my path and the path to inside the studio. I greeted him and he responded very sarcastically, with a very unfriendly look in his eye "It’s great to see your enthusiasm back for the space since you’re no longer with OCM." I responded that "I have always had the same enthusiasm" and opened the door to the studio and walked inside. I didn't see Andy again that evening. I walked away from that incident with no illusions. Andy has a long track record of erratic and harassing behavior. However, spending the time to travel to a physical location to confront me is another level as he is now invading my physical sphere of security. All of the above involves me directly and there is much more that would take up too much spaces here, but I know of at least two other people Andy has harassed, the worst of which being the recent messages he sent my good friend, @polymathPC. In a slew of harassing direct messages, Andy sent @polymathpc the address to Polymath's business, the place where Polymath's wife, his coworkers, and his customers are at every single day. I am virtually certain that Andy did this to threaten and intimidate Polymath by demonstrating that he knows where to hurt Polymath most if he wants to. I’m writing all of this, so that people understand the truth and they don’t have to listen to speculation and rumor. People here are responsible, not only for their wallets, but the company they keep and what that says about them. I'm very honored to be surrounded by incredible people in this industry. Alpha Andy was once one of my greatest friends in this industry and somebody I looked to as a source of inspiration for what people can accomplish here. Sadly, that is no longer the case. I want to be clear that I am not looking to speak to Andy, nor do I want to associate with those who give Andy a safe space to continue his harassing behavior. I wish no ill will towards anyone, but I want to make it clear that the behavior exhibited by Andy should not be not supported through safe harbor in a community. And those that do should take a look at their values and ask themselves earnestly whether they are making the right moves for themselves and those around them. Our industry thrives on having not only security of our assets that sit in our wallets, but the physical and mental security of the people that own those assets. People are the alpha. Choose those you work with carefully. GLHF 🧡⚡️
