All it really shows is how they've been controlling the flow up to this point. Yet to be seen how much people will drink from that hose long-term.

Thoughts on eBay Live GMV growth
In Q1 2026 earnings presentation, $EBAY said annualized GMV year over year run-rate had grown 8x with 7 markets globally.
Here's what they didn't say - 5 of those 7 markets have been active for less than a year, skewing that y/y comparison.
eBay Live launch dates:
US: June 2022
UK: April 2024
Germany: November 2025
Australia: December 2025
France, Italy, & Canada: February 2026
While it's good to see eBay *finally* expanding Live to more countries & opening up to more categories/sellers, this y/y stat is relatively meaningless at this point & will be more useful once reporting has lapped the late launches.
It's also worth noting that Live GMV has previously been significantly restrained by eBay's intentionally slow rollout & limited category/seller inclusion.
So it's not hard to create appearance of "8x growth" simply by loosening those internally imposed restrictions a bit - but that doesn't necessarily equate to real insight on actual market demand or long-term GMV prospects for Live.
That's not to say there isn't real demand for Live, simply that this specific statistic in eBay's most recent earnings report may not really show what eBay wants investors to think it shows.

I was once pitching in a board room at a top 3 VC firm for a $15M Series A. 12 people in the meeting. One of the GPs fully fell asleep. Out cold for 30+ minutes. Nobody acknowledged it. Everyone just kept going. I kept presenting my Series A slides to an unconscious man in a Herman Miller chair and somehow that was considered normal. That's venture capital. You might fly across the country to perform for people who may or may not be conscious. It's a dance. And sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow and sometimes your partner is unconscious. If you're raising right now, just know: every founder has a story like this. The process is weird. The power dynamic is weird. You're not crazy for thinking it's weird. No one talks about it because they want to continue raising. But I'm happy to stick my neck out there. It is weird.

Spencer Pratt is likely going to be overtaken by far left Nithya Raman today. This graph shows the count on Election Day through last night. Nithya did this by suddenly winning 1st in every new ballot drop. North Korean "elections" have more self respect. Even they’d find it absurd for 3rd to suddenly jump to 1st place in every ballot drop DAYS after an election. It’s just ludicrous.

.@eBay’s support tool is basically unusable, they’ve apparently gotten rid of all humans, shut down their support email, and will only respond to angry public tweets. This is one of those. Sincerely, Frustrated 25+ year user

@ValueAddedRS I do agree with shipping rates. Ours are always cheaper than eBay’s. Amazons ups rates are crazy cheap. My buddy works at ups and showed me them….

"Fulfillment by eBay" has been tried several times before & failed - mostly because they were too focused on trying to chase Amazon/replicate FBA but with 3rd party partners, which was a mistake, imo.
There are certainly some categories/types of sellers who could benefit from an eBay version but by & large it's not something I see many sellers clamoring for today.
That's especially true for those who sell non-new in box or OOAK items - there are many sellers I speak to regularly who would simply not be interested in any kind of 3P fulfillment service & neither current nor potential future leadership should ignore that.
eBay is currently focused on making shipping another revenue path - for example, mandating C2C sellers in UK & Australia to use on-platform purchased labels where eBay pockets whatever discounts they might have in rates.
Personally, I'd like to see eBay first focus on negotiating better rates and/or sharing more of the discounts they already have to help bring costs down & drive more sales long-term for those already doing their own fulfillment.
But that doesn't mean some kind of FBE offering couldn't make sense or be valuable for at least some segment of the seller-base - if it's done with actual seller needs in mind rather than being designed as just another fee trap.

In addition to total Active Buyers, $EBAY has broken out subset they call "Enthusiast Buyers" in earnings since 2022.
These users meet at least 1 of the following criteria in prev 12 month period:
Purchase on at least 6 days
Spend at least $800
Both buy & sell on the platform

@ValueAddedRS We are building a FBE type service now. It’s not sellers but people who don’t sell that are getting the biggest benefit from it. All used assets. We are the tech infrastructure.
