@bintairdrop @ThatCruiseMedic Your aim is to keep the patient alive first by relieving pressure on the airway- sutures removal bedside solves that . Next : Treat the underlying cause - wound exploration + hematoma evacuation under appropriate Anasthesia in theatre solves that .

@bintairdrop @ThatCruiseMedic The hematoma, in most cases, is tamponading the bleeding vessel, Evacuating bedside only opens up the tap to more bleeding that might be difficult to secure. At other times ,you can't find the bleeding vessel after the evacuation of the hematoma bedside and the bleeding.....

My surgery viva question: Prof: Congratulations doc, you are already a house officer, but let me assume you are my HO on call and 4 hours after we did thyroidectomy, the nurses drew your attention to the fact that the patient was having difficulty in breathing and Spo2 was dropping. You checked and noticed that the neck was very tensed, what is the single most important thing that you will do to keep the patient alive before I arrive? Guess the answer🫣
Dr. Afo@Dr_Afo

Med fam, what are the most dangerous immediate complications following a thyroidectomy?

Top reasons Doctors are aggressively trying to leave Nigeria based on personal research: ❌Poverty Wages: Spending 6-10 years in medical school to earn a House Officer salary that cannot even buy a decent Nigerian-used car, while the Federal Government owes you for five months straight. You are doing active 48-hour calls on an empty stomach while dodging the food vendor at the hospital gate because your have no money to pay her. ❌Consultant Toxicity: The pure psychological violence during ward rounds. You are a whole Registrar running your Residency program, but a Chief Consultant will casually humiliate you in front of the wicked ward Matron and patients. ❌Collapsed Infrastructure: Carrying out serious surgical procedures on a patient while a Nurse holds an iPhone flashlight because the hospital generator tripped off. Some states don't even have an MRI in Nigeria. ❌The Residency Mafia: Passing your Primaries is not enough. You will fight 500 other doctors for two PG slots that have already been promised to the some relatives. ❌Weaponized Workload: Covering three different wards and doing the job of 3 Doctors on a 72-hour weekend call because half the department is already in the UK/Canada. You are saving lives while your own vital signs are crashing. ❌Zero Security: Becoming a punching bag for grieving relatives at 3 AM because the system failed them and you are the only government representative wearing a scrub.

If you have time on your hands and you are not locked in on AI or some skill of the future, then you are doing yourself a great disservice. Time is an essential factor that many people do not have. People are locked in on their jobs, trying to make a living. If you are in a position where you do not have to work for hours to make a living and you have spare time at your disposal, you have to lock in on AI now. And yes, even busy people need to make out time. Swap 30 minutes of scrolling for 30 minutes of learning. That is it. No matter how packed your schedule is, find the time. Your future self will thank you. Here are 5 free courses on AI you need to lock in on now: 1. Google's Generative AI Learning Path: A structured, beginner-friendly path covering the fundamentals of generative AI, large language models, and responsible AI. It is completely free. ai.google/learn-ai-skill… 2. Elements of AI: A globally recognized course designed for non-technical people that breaks down how AI works and why it matters in the real world. elementsofai.com 3. AI For Everyone (Coursera): One of the most watched AI courses in the world. It strips away the complexity and teaches you how to think about AI as a business and life tool. coursera.org/learn/ai-for-e… 4. Anthropic's Claude AI Course: Learn directly from the makers of Claude. This free course covers how to effectively use and understand AI models, making it one of the most credible and practical resources available today. anthropic.skilljar.com Here are 5 jobs that are future proof: 1. AI Prompt Engineer: Companies are paying top dollar for people who know how to communicate with AI tools effectively to generate business outcomes. This role is only growing. 2. Cybersecurity Analyst: As AI advances, so do digital threats. The demand for people who can protect systems, data, and infrastructure will never slow down. 3. Data Analyst: Every business runs on data. The ability to read, interpret, and turn data into decisions makes you indispensable in any industry. 4. Content Creator & Digital Marketer: Brands need human voices, storytelling, and creativity to connect with audiences. With AI as your assistant, one person can now produce the output of an entire team — no degree required. 5. AI Trainer & Evaluator: AI models need humans to teach, test, and fine-tune them. This behind-the-scenes role is quietly becoming one of the most in-demand positions in the tech world — and you can start with zero academic background. The window is open right now. The question is, are you walking towards it?

Nigeria vs Algeria: Player Rating 1. Nwabali: Good game though tested much. Unnecessary yellow card. Good decisions with ball. Clean sheet still. 8/10 2. Osayi: Rock solid at right back, to the frustration of the Algerian wingers. Excellent performance. 9/10 3. Ajayi: Disciplined display at the back. Intercepted a couple of potentially dangerous passes from Algerian. 8.5/10 4. Bassey: Physically imposing. Caged Lagerian attackers. Nice recovery. 9/10 5. Bruno: Great crosses, good runs forward, capped with an assist. 9/10 6. Onyeka: Solid marking in the midfield, allowing Iwobi to distribute. 8.5/10 7. Ndidi: Combined well with Iwobi and Onyeka to take full charge of midfield. 8.5/10 8. Iwobi: Hardly misplaced a pass. Unplayable in the midfield. Yet another visionary pre assist. 9/10 9. Lookman: Gave first shot on target, went quiet after and later resurged but not as threatening as he was in previous games. 8/10 10. Akor: Missed our best chance of first half but came back to start the attack that led to first goal. Rounded goalie to score the second. Hit the woodwork later. 8.5/10 11. Osimhen: Got the opener and provided assist for the second after a less productive first half. Proved yet critical when we needed goal. 9/10 Sub 12. Onyedika: Consolidated the mobility in the midfield. Quick, short passes. Confidently holding ball. 7.5/10 13. Moses: Usual unproductive uses of balls at the flank. 5/10 Coach: Good tactical display. Dominated form start to finish. Good football. Avoided the usual loss of concentration Nigeria faced in last 20 minutes of games. 9/10
