Every Monday me and Jessi would sit down to record the Bardown Beauties Podcast. This morning my phone buzzed with a notification that the record is coming up, except today it’s not.
Logging onto my computer, sitting at my desk with my microphone where we recorded was another hard thing I haven’t yet done but have to continue to do. I know me and so many others are feeling this, it’s cruel that the world doesn’t stop when terrible things happen even when we desperately beg for it to. The world keeps moving even when we feel like we can’t. All we can do is continue to try to move forward the best we can. My heart hurts for everyone today just doing their best to make it through the day. But for as long as I can, I’ll keep my Monday podcast record notifications on because it reminds me of how much special time I was able to share with Jessi weekly.

I don’t often post about some of the rough “behind the curtain”experiences I go through with my paralysis, but with hopes that it can help anyone facing adversity, here we are. :)
There are times I have to ask myself, “what and who am I fighting for?” This past week I was tested with that question even more so while spending roughly 72 hours in the ER & Hospital with an internal infection that compounded into the extremely dangerous Sepsis. After an extreme fever & losing the ability to control my muscles for a while, thankfully the Dr’s were able to stabilize my vitals and get my temperature under control. Loads of IV antibiotics have gotten me back on the right track and am comfortably back home.
As for that question I kept asking myself, while by no means is this the life I’d wish up my worst enemy, this IS in fact my life. You can’t change the past, but you can make the best of what’s in front you every single day. Embrace who are you, be proud of who YOU are and make those that love and care about you proud to be your son, daughter, brother, sister, parent, friend, etc.
A huge shout out to all of the Doctors, nurses, caregivers, graham crackers and Apple juice.

Per #NHLStats, Hughes (1-1=2) reached 61 points in 2025-26 and became the third American defenseman in NHL history to reach the mark in five or more consecutive seasons, following Phil Housley (11 from 1982-83 to 1992-93) and Reed Larson (5 from 1981-82 to 1985-86).

With a second-period assist, #mnwild defenseman Quinn Hughes reaches the 60-point mark (5-55=60) for his fifth consecutive season. Per @OptaSTATS, over the past 30 years only three other NHL defensemen have tallied 60-plus points in five straight seasons: Erik Karlsson ('13-14 to '17-18), Brent Burns ('14-15 to '18-19) and Cale Makar ('21-22 to '25-26).
