I teach. Therefore I drink. And swear. I’m a sarcastic, drunken unicorn that snots rainbows. Donations welcome to fund my…whatever

@TheFIRESatoshis @TheMattViera This is not the norm. Most teachers don’t walk away with a package like this.
English

@TheMattViera The "teachers don't make money" narrative needs to die.
Pension + healthcare for life is a comp package most startup employees would cry over.

@CodingWCulture Studies are showing that 1-1 tech is not all it’s cracked up to be. Kids are actually under performing their parents and there’s a correlation to the use to tech. Yes, it has a place. But kids are missing some core skills that come with analogue work.

Please retire. You are on here posting daily complaining and bemoaning things that are a part of the current 21st century classroom. Times are a changing and apprently, this makes your life miserable. There's gotta be another field you can go into. Lord have mercy

Elementary students do NOT need iPads.
English

@ModestTeacher @BowTiedOdin Sounds more like you need to work on classroom management.
My students never ask to go during instructional time, only work time. Because they respect me and the class. And I've rarely had to track down a kid who was gone too long.
English

@teacherdown Wow! Kudos to you. Is this a rural school?

This completely annoys me and is a direct result of the failure of the master scheduler. I loved scheduling and taught many how to do it. There is zero reason for a secondary teacher to have more than two preps and if the Principal can’t make it happen, they need more scheduling training.
boysmom4306@boysmom4306
@educator4ever36 The teacher with 4 preps gets paid the same as the teacher doing English 1 all day.
English

@educator4ever36 You adjust. It started as 2 preps part time. Then I had as many as 4 (fulltime) when I had 7, 10, and 2 different mixed classes (11 & 12). Now I have 10 & 2 mixed classes (each 11 & 12). My high school was the same way growing up.
English

@teacherdown I’d not have lasted there. That’s just too much.
English

@brclothwrites I keep mine open as a leftover habit of wanting to hear my kids if they needed something. But I’ve been told it’s better to keep them shut as a way to help slow the spread of fire if necessary.
English

@ThrillaRilla369 Yes. And I think that contributed to my tendency to hoard - don’t throw something you could use later.
English

I’m sorry, but there is nothing “funny” about the “Alligator Alcatraz” shirts being sold on @Etsy. And it’s gross that sellers (and buyers) think that it’s ok. Tell me you’re immune to the suffering of other without telling me you’re immune to the suffering of others.

@teacherdown Right? Even if it takes just a couple minutes, the process of making a bed feels way worse than it really is.

@MidClassRepub I have a teenage son in sports, so laundry is an almost every night thing, but big projects like bedding is overwhelming. Not so much the multiple loads, but having to actually make the bed - even if I really enjoy clean sheets when I’m done.
English

@teacherdown I used to loathe cleaning sheets on a Sunday night but now it's a must just to feel like something will go right for the week.
