@firstlink55 @ruffydfire Why are they calling Nigerians deportees if they are all Nigerians. They tried their luck but didn't work then they should return home, so why refer to them as deportees if there is no dirty side of the agreement.

So we are now taking asylum seekers from the UK. I thought we rejected those from America. Nigeria has entered into a fresh agreement with the United Kingdom that will enable British authorities to repatriate thousands of failed asylum seekers and convicted offenders to the West African nation. The deal was formalised by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood during President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to Britain, according to a statement released by the Home Office on Thursday.

@OgaNlaMedia I see the likes of Nigerian League Management sets in that @CAF_Online committee. Did you know how many tournaments Nigeria would have won if the off-field was initiated in the past. Well, they should be ready for Nigeria because we are good at off field permutations.

I know emotion is flying, but let's be honest Senegal were irresponsible in the final. Their attitude was unprofessional. Not even in amateur football should walking off the pitch be encouraged, irrespective of what you think about officiating. NPFL clubs are heroes 🙂.

@ShehuSani The fact still stands, that interview is not only a disgrace to him alone but to all of us. We have now promoted mediocrity as our normal way of life. A well respected person like you should speak the truth. Let us always stand by the truth and be principled in all we do.

They are happy when a foreign journalist grilled a Nigerian Government official. They are not happy when a Nigerian journalist grilled a foreign ambassador. No African nation has our collection of colonial maids, neocolonial apprentices, imperialists bootlickers and poodles. When a whiteman called them apes, they would gladly agree they are apes and praise him;if a South African or Ghanaian called them Tigers, they will attack him.You can trade the dignity of your ancestral home for the faeces of the whiteman but you can never be accepted or respected because of that.

Dangote's Refinery hikes petrol price to N995 as of latest reports. So what's the usefulness of the Dangote Refinery? And don't tell us that oil is a global business or whatever. Because one fact people tend to overlook is that his refinery is located in Nigeria, with products distributed within Nigeria, to Nigerians. And let's not also forget that Nigeria produces crude oil, abundantly, which he (Dangote) buys directly from the NNPC. So has the Iran war dried up our crude oil all of a sudden? If he's exporting using the global price that's fine, but hiking up price for Nigerians given the slightest opportunity is beyond ridiculous.

The Daniel Bwala interview with Mehdi Hassan on @AlJazeera ‘s Head to Head program was a disaster of gargantuan proportions for Nigeria as a country, for President Tinubu’s administration, and for Bwala himself. Of these three, the last is the least important, because Bwala’s track record speaks for itself. The interview made a spectacle of Nigeria, not just because of the reach of the program globally, but also the format in which there was a global audience in the room itself. What will EACH of those people think about Nigeria after such a fact-based shredding of the country’s leadership and its performance? It was a sad commentary on Nigeria’s political culture in which there are no beliefs, no policies, no ideology, just crass opportunism and the battle for political power. Turn-coatism is “it”. Second, the fact that Bwala, given his record, is sent out to speak for the President of Nigeria on the international stage says much about the standards by which government in Nigeria recruits people for specific roles. In that universe “loyalty”, fleeting though it may be, is all that counts. Competence doesn’t. Mediocrity reigns. Thirdly, why appoint former attack dogs of the political opposition as spokespersons and Ambassadors for the administration simply because they have “defected”? The baggage such individuals carry (especially when they did not espouse principled opposition that may later change, as sometimes happens in politics, but rather used incendiary and personalized attacks on President Tinubu)renders such persons lacking in credibility in representational roles. Bwala was left trying to eat his words with bare-faced lies! I think there are people who could be far more credible spokesmen and women for Nigeria’s government, even with all its underperformance in governance. At least, the discussion will focus on the actual track record of the government, not on the government spokesman’s prior condemnations of that track record. It was a sad day for our country. I’ve received several calls from friends from various countries around the world. All were in shock and felt sorry for our country to be put in such a spot. So many people are waiting and hoping for when Nigeria will “wake up” and take its rightful place under the sun. The citizens of Nigeria are brilliant, hardworking and respected all over the world, breaking barriers and achieving feats in various spheres. The government and incompetent governance of Nigeria by its politicians remains a sorry tale.

@segalink If a matter is before the court, why then arrest him? Why not pursue the matter in court. Or did the court ordered for his arrest? Is it a criminal or civil case? These are the questions you should ask.

Regardless of how we choose to see ourselves or our prejudices against others we must remember the rule of law. Coming online to order the IGP to discontinue a case he isn’t privy to is not activism but despotism. Anybody can be arrested/remanded and if the matter is already before a competent court, social media order to the IGP is not the way to go. The other party in the matter also deserves a fair hearing. We should mature our engagement and avoid sensationalism on every matter. This is probably why lawyers are being remanded of late. If there’s a protracted dispute since 2023 involving the parties and an intervention is required, there are better ways to address it than to exacerbate it. Follow due process and avoid distracting the IGP who has better things to do than receiving orders from despotic content creators online. You don’t run the country and there are no separate rules for any citizen in Nigeria. 🚔
Omoyele Sowore@sowore

I was informed this morning by Comrade Mamhud Abdul @AbdulMamhud01 that a magistrate sitting in Mararaba, near Abuja, has ordered that Comrade Namhud @AbdulMamhud01 be remanded in Keffi prison. This decision comes despite the fact that he voluntarily returned from the United Kingdom to attend his trial. The matter, which has been ongoing for some time, is said to have originated from a disagreement with a senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force (@PoliceNG), Deputy Police Commissioner Amabua Muhammed, who is alleged to have been exerting influence over the proceedings. The case, which began in 2023, has become one of the most troubling examples of abuse linked to the Nigeria Police Force in recent times. The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu (@TunjiDisu1), must discontinue this matter immediately, along with other cases involving police misconduct brought against conscientious citizens across Nigeria. #FreeAbdulMamhudNow

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE ELECTIONS IN FCT, KANO, RIVERS: PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR ORDERLINESS, RESTRAINT BY SECURITY AGENCIES, URGES INEC TO STRENGTHEN VOTERS’ CONFIDENCE   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on voters, security agencies, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during Saturday’s polls in the Federal Capital Territory and the states of Kano and Rivers.   INEC will conduct elections in the six area councils of the FCT and bye-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II State constituencies of Rivers State, and in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.   President Tinubu urged all eligible voters to come out and vote without fear, emphasising that the democratic process thrives best in an atmosphere of calm, tolerance, and mutual respect.   He appealed to political parties, candidates, and their supporters to shun violence, inflammatory statements, and actions that undermine the credibility of the process.   He cautioned against any form of high-handedness, intimidation, or actions that could disenfranchise voters or erode public trust, stressing that security personnel are present to protect lives, property, and the sanctity of the ballot.   President Tinubu appealed to the Commission to take all necessary measures to bolster voters’ confidence by ensuring timely accreditation, smooth voting processes, accurate collation, and prompt transmission of results, in line with the 2026 Electoral Act.   "Fellow Nigerians, I assure you that the Federal Government under my administration will continue to support institutions responsible for delivering free, fair, and credible elections.   "To all residents of the FCT, Kano and Rivers, I commend your civic consciousness. I am confident that these elections will reflect the will of the people and further strengthen our democratic journey as a nation," the President added. Supposed Muslims wrote to the Traditional Ruler of Woro and Nuku, in Kwara State, asking to be allowed to preach what is considered an extremist version of Islam. The communities refused. And boom 💥 💥, over 100 terrorists dressed in army fatigues rode into Woro and Nuku, a Muslims dominated communities, lined up over 100 human beings, and killed them!!! But the main concern of some people is the INEC Chairman.
