Fauci himself pretended not to know the authors and concealed that he was the originator of the paper, feigning total disinterest when he flatly contradicted President Trump on lab origin from the White House podium, claiming the paper had settled the debate in favor of a natural origin. When Fauci’s emails came out in 2021, they showed how deliberate this all was. Fauci coordinated the messaging, steered institutions like NASEM, and pressured scientists to fall in line. The public line and the private reality were completely at odds, and the fraudulent Proximal Origin authors themselves admitted behind the scenes that a lab leak was likely even as they published the opposite. Fauci then lied about it all in Congress, including the claim that he did not fund gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan lab. Fauci’s cover-up was so successful that the same fraudulent narrative still frames public understanding, the same people remain in place, and there has been no accountability whatsoever.
