🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️ Public accommodations, such as restrooms and locker rooms, do not operate on individual consent. They are not "safe spaces." They are shared spaces governed by laws and social norms. The claim that trans women are inherently a threat in these spaces relies on a false premise that trans women are equivalent to men and that their presence signals sexual danger. The data does not support this. What's actually being expressed is fear of men, rooted in the belief that men don't respect consent, and it's being misdirected at trans women. This ignores a critical fact that trans women are among the groups most likely to be victims of sexual assault, not perpetrators. And if the concern were truly about predatory men, why would anyone believe a sign on a door or a law would stop them? If someone were intent on committing sexual assault, why would they take the unnecessary step of pretending to be a trans woman when they already ignore rules, boundaries, and consent? Step back and look at the situation structurally. The fear is aimed at the wrong people, and the proposed solutions do nothing to address actual harm.
