My co-founder David Kuo has an investing rule that some of you may find to be peculiar. He never sells any stock he buys -- period. My latest article for Singapore’s financial newspaper, the Business Times. There are no exceptions or escape clauses. In simple terms, he buys, and he holds -- that’s it and that’s all.

I think this is the #1 reason why Buffett hardly ever paid more than 15 P/E and often paid 10x or less for stocks. Getting more cash in the near term reduces the reliance on being right about the very long term, which is what you need to be when paying high multiples

Selling puts is not free money! Always get asked why I don't sell puts and my answer is always the same. When things dump, they really dump and can do so far beyond what you thought. $IGV and even its highest weightings like $MSFT, $NOW, $APP are examples. On January 2nd, if you would have sold $430 strike on Microsoft, you would have gotten pennies in exchange for taking that risk. Yesterday $MSFT was under $409. You're better off buying during dumps, rather than collecting pennies for a downward move you didn't think would happen, which does and then it ties up your buying power due to that obligation. Plus when a sector dumps, odds are there's something even higher conviction you'd prefer to buy. Or if it's a general market selloff, another sector which was previously expensive is now on sale, but you can't buy due to those puts you sold.
