Something I taught 15 yo: In everyday life, big decisions often occur mixed together with small ones. If you're not careful you'll tend to give them equal weight. So separate decisions as much as you can. There are many techniques for doing this.

With the OG @jody_tropeano. We talked about the ingredients for the perfect panel for HLTH. It’s 4 speakers with the following archetypes plus a third party, neutral moderator: — the “star” , ideally a big name — the “one who stirs the pot” and keeps it interesting — the “subject matter expert” who grounds us in the facts and is a realist — the “up and comer” who’s the potential next star. So when you pitch your HLTH panel, tell her which of the four you are!

Secureframe, Vanta, or Drata for SOC2 and HIPAA compliance? They all look the same to me

@nikillinit By the time you need BAA you typically have funding and most arent compliant until they have enough revenue to sustain those costs

man between the legal fees, needing to sign HIPAA compliant versions of software, and paying the tolls to random middlemen (e.g. CPT code licenses) it costs like 5x to start a health tech company vs. any traditional software company

@nealkhosla I can handle no but I have found it is extremely bothersome to hear conflicting feedback often from two people at the same fund.

@NWischoff I had two high-risk pregnancies during my last startup. I wasn't able to take time off. I worked the day I delivered and the day after. A positively horrific experience. Glad I work for myself now.

Eight months pregnant today. Have traveled almost every week of this pregnancy. The “running” around cities has become a slow walk. Shout out to the women carrying babies and building companies. Not easy.

@theBreaux Have you tried the post office? Come with a ring light and you'll be gold. I've had mixed results with Walgreens. Even public library does it.

Who in the community does professional passport photos? — I mean really, I will have to live with this photo for 10 years I want it to be good if I have a choice. Walgreens did me dirty. — referrals/suggestions?

I just re-read that piece about SBF that was on the Sequoia website. The thing that struck me about it was just that SBF must have been SO compelling in person. For a journalist to go out on a limb and describe him as the potential "world's first trillionaire," even after detailing the risks, is absolutely beyond. You're putting your career on the line. We are trained never to do that. Did anyone out there spend time with him IRL and can speak to this?

*Community help needed* - I just had a founder ask me what are the best startup conferences to go to. I gave them a few but I know the community has the best answer. So what are the best startup conferences founders should be at this year?????

@MacConwell From an early stage founders - haven’t found conferences to be that fruitful. High effort & cost = uncertain and often low benefit. Better to do HH in NYC, send outreach to investors, founders, customers you want to meet. Now industry conferences…completely different ball game

We are on the cusp of a BOOM in Medicaid startups. Tech-enabled services that productize what is fundamentally “social work”. If I had a billion dollars, I would invest every penny in this space.

@LawyerLiam The difference between Ryan and most VC backed companies is that they arent household names. Ryan is. Just being who he is is the brand. Same with Fenty, Kim Kardashian, and the gobs of other celebrities that employ this strategy.
